What is the diameter of the pole?

BEST ANSWER: The pole is approximately 3 cm in diameter. The base that clamps onto the desk is approximately 6.5 cm across.

The base of the pole itself is 1-3/16" to 1-1/4". I don't have a micrometer to measure exactly.

BEST ANSWER: I was getting ready to say "no" but now that I look at the bracket and the grommet on my desk it might be possible. If the grommet is wide enough you could put the entire bracket through the grommet My grommet is considerably narrower in diameter than the back brace of the bracket that has to fit inside the grommet. .

Can you remove the clamp and bolt it to a desktop?

BEST ANSWER: The "C" clamp is in two pieces fastened together with 4 screws. You could remove the bottom half of the clamp and screw it to a side of a desktop. You could also extend the range of the clamp using only 2 of the four screws. One thing you can't do is disassemble the telescoping tubes to shorten them. The bottom tube is narrowed at the neck to prevent disassembly.

Solved my speak problem.
These are perfect simple mounting brackets. I used to mount a couple speakers but also would work great for small monitors.

Simple and effective. Does exactly what it is advertised. Using it for an MSI Optix 32" curved gaming monitor. Holds it with no problems.

Cheap but fair.
Cheap but doesn't work well with my 28" Samsung monitor. The mounting holes for my monitor are at the top, and when used with this stand the monitor sits flush with my desk.
The Vesa mounting head that sits on the pole (for lack of a better term) is loose. There's no worry the monitor is going to fall off but rather it jiggles when shaken.
A plus is that it will securely mount to your desk no matter how thin. My desk was fairly thin but you can macgyver the mount to make it work. You also need no obstructions underneath the desk as well. EG: no metal support braces underneath in the way.
You get what you pay for really.

Purchased for features but its wrong.
Disappointed when I I discovered that the description for these stands is incorrect. In the features it states:
Rotates 360 degrees allowing for easy portrait or landscape orientation
But this is not the case. It only tilts and i needs them to rotate to a landscape position.
