Would this cable work going from an RCA phono plug coming out of the pre-amp into the XLR connection on the power amp. Is there any advantage to this cable setup,?
Or would it be better to use the RCA out to the RCA in on the AMP?
Thanks

BEST ANSWER: At this length you can use either. If the back of your component stack is full of power blocks and other cable I would use this one. The shielding of our Premier series is very good especially compared to standard RCA cables.

The cable quality is good - so that's useful
If the amp has RCA inputs then simple RCA to RCA is equivalent if the gains at the two inputs, RCA and XLR are the same.
Sounds like you're connecting home audio out to pro audio in. In some gear the level mismatch between the two can be an issue that can be fixed with a level converter. I used this cable to connect a home theater receiver to a behringer amp driving a sub. With the amp input levels at about 75% everything balances well and the results are spectacular. Some experiment may be required.

This cable is meant for what you are suggesting. It will work from the pre out to your amp. The rca to xlr should give better noise rejection. Make shure the amp responds the same to xlr and rca. Amps that have both connections do not always have the same resistance. (10,000 ohm vs 20,000 ohms for example) this mY effect the i put gain on your amp. These are the best quality cables i have been able to find for this type od use. It beats making them yourself and the parts are top quity. Buy with confidance.

No line or Ground issues from processor, RCA to XLR . They are used for 4 amp channels rear .Excellent build quality for the price. The entry level emotiva processor only has rca out. The Amps use XLR only for inputs. If you have rca input option to amp it should work fine. The XLR advantage is the ground. Pro line applications always use XLR to XLR. Male/ Female. Sound reinforcement can have all kinds of issues in clubs and outdoor events.. The last thing you want is Bad. Cables.

I used this cable to go from my RCA phono plug coming out of my pre-amp / turntable mixer because I have an XLR snake that runs around my studio into my analog mixing board. So I can attest that this will work. The advantage for me was mainly convenience. Some may argue it will reduce the potential for noise interference since it has a ground because it's balanced. Not sure if this helps at all. I don't consider myself a cable expert.

The RCA jack is the limiting factor. I doubt there will be any difference in sound but you could have left/right stereo issues depending on how you have things set up. rCA is not balanced. This should be considered an adapter. It is not an impedance or balance adjuster. Use the rca input for simplicity.

Hello,
If you have the opportunity to use a XLR connection as opposed to a RCA, I would use the XLR. The XLR is a balanced line connection. It delivers less unwanted noise signals.

Yes it sounds like that setup would work. It will end up being an unbalanced signal which is fine. I use this Cable in my setup and it works awesome

Good quality build for the price. The home theater processor currently used has no XLR out. Now configured using 4 RCA out to 2 pro power amps using 4 channels for rear.. Happy to report there are no ground issues.. The monolith XLR input should work ok. I’m using rca line out from Carver sub to a additional sub.input.. Both are RCA plugs . The cable is long and was purchased from monoprice. XLR to RCA should be Ok. XLR is the best option but for fixed install it should be fine. Sound reinforcement live applications is not recommended. LOL

I would check your Amp outputs. Make Sure that they are XLR female connectors (the above referenced cable are XLR Male). And if your Sub has female RCA connectors, yes, I highly recommend theses cable. High quality. I have referred others to purchase them.

This should work fine into balanced xlr input but you could use a single RCA out from the amp to RCA input on sub too

This has been asked, but there is dispute in the reviews. Is this wired acceptably to connect unbalanced LFE (RCA) to balanced XLR input of Monolith sub? How will I detect if it's not?

BEST ANSWER: Yes, it's safe. The result will be an unbalanced signal at the sub, but if you're not hearing any hum or other noise, which is unlikely unless your have a really long length of cable, it's fine. Typically unbalanced cables only are a problem on microphone or other stage wires that are 50' long.

Great value cables that simply work.
We will likely be using monoprice for all cabling needs moving forward. They have pretty much everything on-hand, ship quickly, and the quality is a great value.
