How long would this power an electric mattress pad? How long would it power a smaller electric heater, like 750 watts, or 1000 watts?
A shopper
on Feb 17, 2024
BEST ANSWER: How long is depending on the power consumption of your device. I bought the PowerCache 1000 for emergency situation and have not used it as much. I don't have a mat but I have tested on a Bionaire oscillating ceramic heater rated at 1500W high and 1/2 of that at low, the PowerCache 1000 ran w/o shutting off on both levels. When the heater was selected at low level of heat w/ the oscillating feature on at the same time, the display shows it can run for 2 hours. I also tested it on the small size Saeco espresso machine, it consumed 7% of the power on the PowerCache after I made 2 cups and frothing ..... Based on the limited experience, I would say the 1000W is conservative rating and should work just fine w/ your electric heating. Keep in mind that the AC/DC power brick is running very hot during charging which is somewhat a concern to me.

I ran a very small electric heater which is listed at 2.1 amps for 2.5 hours. The meter on the power cache stated 48% remaining energy in the battery.
SO, it performed excatly as advertised (or slighly better) when you do the math.
2.1 amps x 110volts equals 231 volts. (The heater claims it is 235 watts.). 231 watts x 2.5 hours = 577 watts which is slightly better than half of the 1000 watt rating of the Power cache. SO, I`m assuming it would run a 1000 watt heater for one hour.

To calculate the running time of a toaster, you would use the following formula: Running Time = Solar Generator Watt-hours/operating power of the device For example to get the running time for a 900-watt toaster = (1000*0.85)/900 = 0.94 hrs 1000 Watt-hours has enough capacity to run the toaster for around 56 minutes.

from the specs:
it's 1,000 wats for 1.075 hour (1075 wh / 1,000 w = about 1 hour and 13 minutes)
for 750 watts for about 1.43 hrs (1075 wh / 750 w = about 1 hour and 25 minutes)
for 500 watts for about 2.15 hrs (1075 wh/ 500 w = about 2 hours and 9 minutes)

If an electric blanket is ~100 watts, then 1000 watt*hours / 100 watts = 10 hours. If an electric blanket is ~150 watts, then 1000 watt*hours / 150 watts = 6.6 hours. For different devices, you can do the math yourself.

Do all the plugs and ports work while you are charging it?
A shopper
on Oct 30, 2023
BEST ANSWER: Yes, pass through charging is supported. However, the supplied AC adapter is limited to charging at a rate of 176.4 watts (as written on the adapter itself). In real world use, I have gotten the battery to charge anywhere from 150-173 watts via the AC adapter while simultaneously using the battery to power devices. Therefore, if the current output exceeds the input, then it won't work after the battery drains. It would be great if Monoprice offered another, more powerful AC adapter.

The specs say it takes 7-8 hours to recharge from 0% when plugged into AC wall power. The battery holds 1075Wh (so that means it can run 1075 watts for 1 hour, or 107.5 watts for 10 hours, etc). That implies the AC charger is only adding ~120Wh for each hour of charge... so no, the wall adapter doesn't appear to be pushing enough power to keep your stuff running continuously unless you have less than about 100w of gear plugged in. This is really a battery bank for powering things off the grid, not a UPS (uninterruptible power supply).

What's the minimum voltage to charge the battery? For example, will a lightweight 18V solar panel work?
A shopper
on Nov 10, 2023
BEST ANSWER: No! Minimum voltage is 36V, according to Monoprice tech support. Good luck finding a 36V solar panel! All of Jackery's panels are between 12V and 24V, for example, so according to tech support would not be compatible. I do not know of any reputable brand that makes 36V panels--I tried to find some after purchasing this (after discovering it wasn't compatible with the panel I already had, which was 18V). I couldn't find any reputable brand with 36V+ panels, and so I will have to return my PowerCache.

My 200w 24v solar panel will not charge this unit. Does the solar panel HAVE TO be 36v? I assumed that 36v was the maximum.

on Dec 19, 2023
BEST ANSWER: Yes! I ran into this issue as well. I have an 18V solar panel. Tech support says 36V is the minimum. There aren't any 36V solar panels on the market from any reputable brands, at least not that I can find. I really wish Monoprice engineers had done their homework on this one--their generator doesn't work with any panels I can find! I have to return mine, which is sad because if they just made it in the right voltage range it would be an excellent product, but as-is it cannot do its basic job: charge from a solar panel.

According to the manual is requires 36v panel (42V open voltage max). It would seem the generator uses a 24V nominal voltage. The AC adaptor for charging is 29V which is consistent with the 5v over nominal required for charging that most all solar systems are

Can I order a replacement plug in wall charger for this unit?
Paul C
on Jan 11, 2024
BEST ANSWER: Monoprice does NOT sell replacement AC power supplies. I just got one off of Amazon for about $21. Brand is Abakoo. This is the description on it. 29.4V 4A Power Supply AC Adapter Charger for 24V 7S Lithium Li-ion Battery Pack 5.5x2.1mm DC Plug with a 5.5 * 2.5mm tip. I can't post the link or I would. It is slower than the one that comes with it because it is only 4 amps but it does work, the little bit that I tried it out tonight. You do need an adapter plug because the one on it won't work. I used one from on of my solar panels that worked. Has a green marking on the tip. Couldn't find a 29.4 volt 6 amp unit.

BEST ANSWER: After interacting with customer support on this for my own unit, there are no reputable solar panels sold on the market at all that are compatible with this "solar generator." 36V is the absolute minimum required from a solar panel. Neither I nor the customer service rep could find one from a reputable seller, not including a sketchy listing from a fly-by-night seller with almost no reviews. The big names in solar panels certainly do not make any such panels.

I have a 65 watt A/C power adapter for a c-pap machine how long will it run ?
A shopper
on Mar 1, 2024
BEST ANSWER: To be more accurate, you need to measure the Watt-Hours the unit uses over time; I assume the unit cycles on/off so doesn't consume 65 watts continuously. However, if the machine takes 65 watts continuously (doesn't cycle on/off like a fridge), then the battery's 1075 Watt*Hour / 65 Watts = 16.5 hours. However, that assumes no efficiency loss. (I do not know how efficient this unit is). If you assume 90% efficient, that is reduced to 14.8 hours.

Great Back Up for C PAP
The package arrived in perfect condition. It charged in approx. 4 hours. Had some charge on it. Used it for one night with my C-PAP and it worked great. Should have enough charge to last at least 3-4 nights. It is not silent but is quiet enough to sleep. I moved it to the foot of the bed about 8 feet. It has a fan. For the money I would buy again. What a great bargain at 379.

Decent charge for the price
Good capacity and fast charging. On sale, it was much cheaper than comparable products. For something of this size, it really should have two 12V auto ports and several more USB ports. Having a 24V is a little dangerous, so maybe make them switchable. It should also have a compartment to store the DC charger. I feels like there is a lot of wasted space up top.

Works well, as advertised.
The Unit looks exactly as pictured. The large handle is easy to grip, making it easy to carry, despite the weight. I tested it by running a large screen TV for about 4 hours and that took it down to about 20% which was as expected based on the wattage draw of the TV. Also tested on a stand-up freezer and it worked just fine. Though I did not test duration on the Freezer, based on the wattage and on the fact that a Freezer does not run continuously, I expect I could probably save frozen food for perhaps a one-day power outage.
The reason for 4 stars rather than 5 is the fact that it charges slow from the meager 180-watt power supply. I'm sure it could take more since it will take higher wattage from solar and the charge time is quicker according to documentation. But in the end, you charge it when you have power and unless your power is going out ever few hours, it shouldn't be a big issue.

Mixed feelings
I got this 3 weeks ago and got to try it out a few times since. First of all it is way heavier than I was expecting. That's not a really big deal if you don't have to carry it much. It does take a 36 volt solar panel which I didn't realize when I ordered it. There is a nice 200 watt Weeliao unit on Amazon that should work good with this. Haven't tried mine out yet though. I do like the fact that you can recharge this a lot more times than a lot of the older power stations out there.
One thing that really bothers me is they don't sell replacement power bricks or car chargers for this. And as of now they don't plan to sell them. So if you buy this make sure you don't lose or break yours! I managed to lose mine on the first day I had this by leaving it outside and now I can't replace it without trying to find an aftermarket one that has the proper voltage and plug size. that is just plain stupid that they have no plans to carry replacements because people will need them.
For the price I paid for it at $380, that was a great deal, even without being able to purchase a replacement power supply. I also have a few Jackery units including their 1000 watt model so as long as I use this in the summer I can still charge it with the solar panel but it won't do me much good in the late fall, winter and early spring when there isn't as much sun up here in Fargo, ND. Would I pay $800 for this? I don't know.

Recommend with some minor reservations
It's hard to beat the PC 1000 at the price and functionality.
Positives: Great value, works as designed, good specs, feel like a well built unit.
Somewhat negatives: Minimal features compared to competitors, no option for future expansion, AC/DC power adapter gets really really hot while charging & using the unit at the same time, last but not least very slow charging time.
