What alloy is the steel used? I know it's a variety of stainless but there are many different stainless alloys.

BEST ANSWER: Sorry, I can't answer your specific question. It is robust (e.g. strong). Compared to other multipurpose tools, this has a few items, but not as many as the 'classic' swiss army knife. I find the pliers, the knife, and screwdriver most useful (I know longer carry purpose specific knife backpacking in favour of this tool), and I do carry wire for 'rapid' repairs. Useful tool.

Still in shock over poor product quality
I understand that this item was only $20, but it came with every nook and cranny scratched and gouged, paint bubbling, misaligned parts, dull knife, covered in oily fingerprints, and the spring feels like it's ready to break or shoot out. This really hurts MP's reputation for being a value brand.
