BEST ANSWER: Hello,
Thank you for your inquiry. This device supports USB-C PD through the USB-C Port on the device. To charge a laptop with it you would plug this device into a USB-C Power Delivery(PD) compatible port on the laptop then connect a USB-C PD charger into the USB-C port on this device.

BEST ANSWER: The USB-C port that has the solid line over a dashed line is the correct port for charging your laptop, assuming your laptop can be charged via USB-C. Not all USB-C ports on your laptop can be used for power delivery, however.
I just tried charging my laptop with this multiport adapter while the adapter was plugged into a PD port on my laptop. The laptop did start charging, but at a lower speed than directly plugging in the HP USB-C power charger/adapter that came with the laptop. It also showed a popup that warned me to use an official HP power adapter.
Search for 591fbcgu5zg61.png on reddit for a very nice explanation of all the USB logos, including which logo means you can charge your device.

Handy adapter
I bought this as a cheap alternative to an actual Thunderbolt 4 adapter. I specifically chose this one for the Ethernet port (which works well). It would have been nice to have a few USB C ports and a longer cable, but the adapter really helped clean up my computer wiring.

Features I needed for a fair price
I needed a hub for a new Apple M2 Air to support my USB mouse, a USB CD/DVD reader, and SD card reader. Has all that for a fair price. Works flawlessly.

Makes a Surface Pro 8 fully competent mobile workstation
I mostly wanted more connectivity for devices and an ethernet connection for my Surface Pro 8. The ethernet port showed up so I assume it will work unlike another reviewer stated. I really like the usb c charging not cutting my connectivity in half. It basically makes my Surface Pro 8 a full featured mobile workstation by having many options for connecting devices, networks, and additional storage.

Very good, except
It does just what I wanted to, except that the ethernet connection doesn?t connect. It?s good that I have a couple of work-arounds, but I don?t think I can recommend this device.

So far all I have tested is the USB C charging and portable hard drives in the USB A connections. I am using this on a Lenovo Legion S7, the USB A connections work for portable hard drives as long as you have external USB C power plugged into the device. As far as the USB C charging, it starts charging when in use but then stops and has to be unplugged and plugged back in. Overall it?s decent, not what I wanted but for $30 ?

Excellent hub
I use this hub with both a 2021 16" MacBook Pro and a Steam Deck. It works perfectly with both devices- 4K at 60Hz out of the Steam Deck included! I still use SD and microSD and ethernet connections pretty regularly, so it is great to have everything available on this hub. I plan on purchasing another, so one can live permanently at my desk for the Mac!
