BEST ANSWER:It's 17mm / 5/8in particle board with vinyl cladding (NOT MDF!). I wouldn't trust a few wood screws, but through-bolts with washers on each side would do the trick. As would a clamp with wide surface area.

Good basic computer desk with some minor assembly issues
This computer desk is a good value. Properly assembled, it's sturdy. It comes with a cup holder and hook for headphones. I didn't know what the "hook" was for. It isn't explained in the instructions. But other reviewers ID'ed it. The build quality is "OK". There is an "edge repair" along the top left front corner. It wouldn't be easy to see unless this portion of the desk is well-lighted. Black wax was used to fill in a small void between the edge band where it meets the top surface. See image: Doesn't bother me at this price. There are two minor assembly issues. The left and right pedestal legs should be installed with the longer pedestal foot facing forward. See image: This is NOT well-illustrated in the instructions. It's not even clear in the instructions that the front and rear "feet" of each leg are different lengths. I figured it out before twisting any bolts. I'm positive some people will try to install the legs in the opposite orientation. Finally, the desk arrives with lots of pilot holes. You can install the hook and cup holder on either side and just use the existing pilot holes. BUT... the "cord organizer/holder" sheet metal bracket is a "do it yourself" project. You're expected to decide on a preferred position for the bracket, then use the three provided "self-tapping" screws to dig into the particle board substrate to secure the sheet metal "cord-holder" bracket. As you can see from the picture provided, installing the screws requires fishing a long screwdriver through the bracket holes to reach the screw site. I tried using a finish nail to create some pilot holes. On the middle screw, the particle board crumbled rather than formed a neat hole. Luckily, the screw worked anyway. I strongly suggest using a small drill bit to create pilot holes here, like the vendor did in many other sites. Monoprice Home Office Fixed Steel Frame Computer Black: Product # 43564
Been mostly happy with the desk. It looks good, feels sturdy, the accessories are handy and is a low price. However, the coating on the wood top easily gets fingerprints on it, and because of the texture, it takes some effort to clean them off. I can't really use the desk more than a day without being bothered by how many fingerprints I've left on it. Seems like a pretty obvious oversight, but that's my only real complaint with it.
It's a very nice table particularly for the price. It is well made and went together with no problems. The construction is solid. I would buy again if I needed another lite table. I recommend this table.
I needed an additional workspace now that I am working from home. I didn't have much space in my office and this was the perfect fit. The desk is very sturdy and has a few nice features like the cup holder, headphone holder and cable organizer. The design of the legs is what really impressed me over another item I purchased and subsequently returned from another site. The desk surface itself is also very solid.
This 4-foot desk is of amazing quality, especially for the price. I purchased this for my nephew to use for gaming and homework and we needed it to fit in the corner of the room. The black surface looks and feels very premium and hopefully will last a long time.
Build quality is very solid and sturdy, with simple assembly. The cup and headset holders can be installed on either side and are a nice bonus. The cable tray does not include pre-drilled holes, but I assume that is to allow the user to customize the positioning.
I'm extremely happy with the purchase of this MP Home desk. I'm using it with MS Surface and 13" second monitor set up. The fit is great and there is plenty of room for other stuff I need for work. Assembly was super easy and the desk is very solid. I complimented this desk with a Monoprice WFH Aluminum Multimode LED Desk Lamp with Wireless and USB Charging. Both of these were on sale. the desk was 30% off and the light was 15% off but these would have been a smart buy at full price. Just one complaint. There were no pre-drilled holes for the cable tray accessory but thankfully, I didn't need it. No harm, no foul.
I just received this computer desk today, 10/26/2022. It definitely exceeded my expectations??The quality of the desk surface, along with the HEAVY steel legs is excellent. It will definitely support whatever your desk needs are. Monoprice selected FedEx as the shipper apparently because of the 39 lbs weight.
