Compatible with Samsung Smartthings?

BEST ANSWER: I could not get a Smartthings V2 Hub to recognize them. It is also not on the Smartthings device list. Monoprice support said it wasn't recognized because the hub does not support SmartStart (versions 1, 2 and 3 do not have this feature). Smartthings/Aeotec said the device can usually still be added using the classic connection method, but Monoprice never responded to my inquiry.

Has anyone actually gotten this sensor to work? The unit I received blinks the light 3-4 times (red) when putting the battery in. Other than that, nothing. Nothing for the wakeup command (when opening the cover), nothing for the inclusion (or exclusion) process - no light flashes, nothing.....

What is the battery? Lithium rechargeable, watch battery, alkaline, nimh etc

BEST ANSWER: The manual says it comes with a CR2032 battery, which is a 3V Lithium battery in the "coin cell" or watch battery format. They are available from many online sources and cost less than about $2 per cell (much less if bought in bulk.). The battery is NOT rechargeable.

Will these be immediately compatible with smartthings, or need a custom device handler to be made first?

any pointers on how to include it? Manual says to trip it 3 times and then it'll be included. It's not working for me. My controller is HUSBZB-1 by Sigma Designs. Thanks

Will this device interface with the SmartLife app? I have WiFi water/leak and smoke detectors (that I've bought from Monoprice) that send me alerts via this app when they're tripped. It'd be great if this door alarm also used this same app.

So you would wind up building your own home security system with this using a zwave smart hub like samsung or something similar, to handle the alerting and maybe other automatic actions like turning on a light, etc? I suppose the only thing that full systems do now (like simplisafe) is offer the paid monitoring/call the police kinda thing.

Can I use the window sensors only (like just them and a phone app)? Or do I need something to go with them to work with a phone app?

The specs for the Z-Wave Plus Series 700 Door/Window Sensor quote an outdoor range. Can these be used on a fence gate exposed to rain?

Can this sensor be installed on either side of the door? I have doors to rooms that open out to a hallway, and don't want the sensors to be visible from the hallway.

Only if they're on clearance
These are not worth $40. But if you catch them on clearance for $8, they're a decent upgrade over 433 MHz sensors. They're very small, super thin, but come with a strong magnet. I broke one of the clips that holds the CR2032 cell down just trying to replace it -- they're super flimsy -- but I was able to tape it in place. It still took a lot of wiggling around to make good contact and actually power up.
SmartStart pairing with S2 authentication was quick and easy with Home Assistant, zwave-js, and an Aeotec Gen 5 hub. I didn't try conventional inclusion, which other reviewers and online commenters had a lot of trouble with.
I bought two of these. One works perfectly. The other one, I'm still trying to get reliable signaling from. I paired them a few feet from the Z-Wave hub, but installed them a hop or two away. One is successfully routing through an adjacent switch, but the other is still trying to talk directly to the hub.
Use a coin to open the sensor if necessary. A screwdriver isn't quite right for the slot.

Will not connect with SmartThings
Thought I would give thease a shot but they will not pair with SmartThing and the Edge drivers. I bought 3 and only one would even pair and it came in as a on/off switch on the IDE side.

Works Great
I have a smarthings hub that is at least 10 yrs old and it works great. Once you figure out how to pair it. In smarthings select add device by brand, select Z-Wave then Generic Z-Wave Device then start. You now have 10sec to add the battery (+ up), put the back on and set it down. Smarthings will prompt you to scan for a QR code or enter it manually ( the code is inside the device or on a piece of paper inside the box) if it finds the device you will be asked rename it and save your changes.
This should work also
In smarthings select "Scan QR code", follow the prompts so that smarthings is searching for the device.... Add the battery to the device ( you only have 10sec to add the battery (+ up) and put the back on and set it down).
if smarthings finds the device will be asked to rename it and save your changes.

Good sensor, poor instructions
After having a bunch of issues pairing my first one with a Hubitat Elevation C7 (I'm using it as a Z-Wave bridge to my HomeAssistant VM installation).... I cribbed some Z-Wave pairing instructions together for another product, from another site, and this method JustWorks (at least, with Hubitat):
Unpack everything. Have sensor, rear cover, battery, and contact magnet ready. in Hubitat's SmartStart, scan QR code. Once accepted, name the sensor in hand, hit Save. Install battery in sensor - and, now, you need to work fast, as it's in initial pairing mode. You have 10 seconds to get the rear cover snapped on. Tap the contact magnet 3x against the arrow (light will blink each time), and PUT IT DOWN. Z-Wave link procedure may take up to 10 minutes.
Once it shows up in your Devices list (and, for funsies, it'll show up as a Ring Security Keypad G2), click the device, and change the 'device type' (drop-down menu) to "generic Z-Wave Plus Contact Sensor", assign it to a room (if desired), and click Save Device.
For you HomeAssistant users, who also bridge Z-Wave with Hubitat:, do NOT allow Maker to publish the sensor until you've changed it from 'keypad' to 'contact sensor', lest ye have multiple orphaned entities.
Was it easy? No. But, once I figured out the 'flow' to these (for Hubitat, anyways), subsequent sensors were easy to link up. And, then I ordered another 15 of them (for my windows.)

Junk
Problems:
* LED blinks once when battery is put in. Once you put the back on the case you can no longer see the LED to get feedback
* QR Code to help with installation doesn't work. It's not even a URL
* Will not pair with Z Wave controller after following instructions
Should have looked at reviews before purchasing because this is going into the trash.

Bad Investment
New 700 Series Door/Windows sensors will not INCLUDE on either of the two Hubs with any of three USB Z-Wave+ adapters. Fresh batteries, EXCLUDING and re-INCLUDING, and factory reset per Manufactures instructions - - DON'T WORK. Support won't even return requests for assistance. Monoprice will wait until after return period expires before refusing to refund. There are much better products available from other distributors.
