My home PC and audio system are not Bluetooth capable. My tv runs through a Monoprice sound system. Will this Transmitter/Receiver allow me to use Bluetooth headphones for both devices?

Absolutely. That’s basically what I did. Great way to have Bluetooth capability without have to replace older electronics.

If I buy 2 of these, can I connect one to the pre-out of my home theater receiver (via left/right to 3.5mm)and set it to transmit and pair it with another exact same unit across the room in receive mode and then output via 3.5mm to an amp to a set of speakers? I want to add height speakers, but don't want to rip up my walls.

BEST ANSWER: Sounds feasible. I'm using a pair, one broadcasting a TV optical out, a second receiving, with headphones plugged into it, for when watching TV while others in the house need quiet.

It seems in the transmitter mode it can be paired with headphones. Have anyone tried to pair it with Apple headphones?

BEST ANSWER: I don't have this transmitter/receiver yet, but any Apple AirPods support up to AAC codec for Bluetooth A2DP transmission. AAC is the best Bluetooth encoder built into Apple transmitting devices like iPhone or iPad. But based on the specs, AAC only works for receiving mode only. That being said.. you should still be able to pair ANY bluetooth headphones with the transmitter. Though performance varies by headset and supported codecs.

Sorryy answer isn't Apple specific, but I ham no problem pairing this Bluetooth transmitter with a pair of Sennheiser HD 350BT Bluetooth 5.0 Wireless Headphones. I use these phones primarily for watching TV with a Yamaha receiver. The aptx low latency feature give me perfect voice sync with the picture.

What is the frequency range for the output of this Bluetooth receiver?

BEST ANSWER: I've used it as a transmitter; it's sent audio to a bluetooth speaker that's a dozen feet away on the other side of a wall. Presumably it would do even better line-of-sight.

BEST ANSWER: I have both of them and I don't find much difference in range between the regular version and the long range version. They both deliver good sound and 30 to 40 feet distance in a home environment before starting to break up, using a JBL Flip5 speaker.

This is sold as a "long range" transmitter while the specs say "30 feet." 30 feet is not "long range." Are the specs on the website accurate?

BEST ANSWER: I don't see why not, assuming your TV has an aux output as well as an optical output. You'd only get audio on the aux, I assume.

Can i set the transmitter/receiver up for both functions and switch between the two as needed? Without repairing?

I am experiencing popping in the audio of the 2nd set of headphones connected via bluetooth with Aptx LL codec on both. I have swapped which set of headphones connects first and it's always the 2nd set. After disconnecting the first set and waiting 5-20 seconds, the popping goes away on the 2nd set. I am using optical as the input. Works perfect with only one set of headphones, but that's not what I bought it for! Is anyone else experiencing this and are there any ideas for correcting?

I just received this unit in the post, and I can't get it to switch codecs. The manual with it's tiny text describes using the pairing button to change the codec, but the unit just powers off when I try. The tiny manual says to ensure the unit is powered on, and to hold the pairing button for 7 seconds, then one of the codec buttons should light up, but it simply shuts off. Clearly something is off here, is the actual method different from the manual?

Excellent unit at an excellent price
Very easy to use. I paired it with both of my ipads, and it seamlessly switches to the one that is currently playing music. If I needed an additional unit, I would buy another one of these.

Perfect for making a subwoofer wireless
Bought two of these to make a subwoofer wireless - used one in transmitter mode connected to the TV's toslink port and other in receiver mode and connected to subwoofer via RCA and it works like a charm. Very impressed.

Useful addition to any set of corded headphones.
I was given a set of incredible headphones.. Beyerdynamic T5's, as a year-end gift from the company I work at's owner. They are absolutely epic, the only drawback being they're wired. With this little box I was able to take them wireless and they work all over the house. Highly recommended. I was able to get them into AptX HD mode using a Dell driver for the same series of Intel BT chip my system has.

Monoprice Long Range Bluetooth transmitter
I have a Monoprice Premium Bluetooth 5 Transmitter/Receiver (Item 38071) and it works well, but I wanted a bit more range, so I purchased the Long Range version (Item 43243) when it was on sale.
When using the Long Range version, the signal drops out at the same distance as the Premium Bluetooth 5 model, hence my review of only 3 stars, as it does not seem to provide any increase in range in my experience.
In conclusion, as a Bluetooth transmitter, it works fine, but if you're hoping to get longer range, you will be disappointed.
