BEST ANSWER: The cable is specifically designed for the monolith 1570 model, because it has reverse polarity, so no, it won't work with Audeze headphones.

Nope. Pin layout is different (for some reason). You can mod the cable to make it work, but is just better to find a proper cable.

I'm considering the Monolith 1570 open back headphones and this Monolith XLR four pin cable. I already own the Monolith THX AAA 887 headphone amp with four pin XLR output so I assume this cable would be compatible with my amp and provide great performance with the 1570 headphones? Wondering if anyone has the same combination of components and if so can you comment on performance. Also has anyone compared the performance between the open back and closed back versions of the 1570 headphones. I'm wondering what the trade offs might be with the closed back design other than slightly reduced sound staging. Thanks for any comments you have.

Is the large xlr end wired normally so it will work with any balanced amp output? Several folks mentioned the use of a nonstandard pin wiring on the mini xlr cup connectors. Thanks

Monolith M1570/AMT Balanced Cable
A good cable, well built and sturdy. There may be other compatible cables around, but none comes close to this one in build quality. A bit of extra length would be appreciated, but cannot complain overall. Works perfect with my Monolith M1570.

A seemingly expensive cable that re-arranged my brain....
It's extravagantly expensive for a headphone cable, but Monoprice isn't getting fat - the bleeding male mini-XLR connectors are $30/pair, so there may well be $50 parts cost for the cable assembly.
Setting aside my pricing grouchiness, this balanced cable completes the M1570C headphones - transforming them from adequate 'big planar' cans when driven single-ended - up towards the empyrean realms inhabited by HiFiman Susvaras or Focal Stellvias.
No, the humble 1570C's won't give you the last Erg of Transparency, or the frighteningly palpable sense of presence that's those heavy-hitter's forte' - but they are capable of transporting you up, up, and away - so you can gaze into the playground where the Big Boys gambol - which makes this cable seem almost reasonable for enabling so much.
