Can this be folded up when not in use?

BEST ANSWER: It can be swung to one side or the other by adjusting the tension on the top bolt/screw. However, you can only go as far as the attached television will allow. This mount is perfect for my use as it is on a screen porch in Illinois with a slopped ceiling. I plan to remove the two height adjustment bolts/screws when it is time to bring the television in for the winter. Slide the adjustable height tube out with television still attached and store for the winter. Was very easy to install and attach television. Hope this help.

Yes if you mean "not in use" meaning = no tv hanging (with a tv probably would not work so well because the weight of the tv would be on that adjustment bolt. Secondly it doesn't appear to be made to be adjusted often. Basically the angle adjustment bolts are bolts torque down in place, making it require tools (ratchet or wrench or etc) to loosen and tighten everytime you want to change the angle

Technically yes, but with a TV attached it's going to be a lot of weight so you will need to tighten the bolts quite a bit and the mount to the ceiling must be rock solid on all four bolts. If you can detach the TV it would be no problem.

You certainly could do so but that would be odd to do on a routine basis since everything is manual.

Without the tv? kind of. You could loosen a couple of screws and swing it left or right.

I need to mount closer to the ceiling, more like 12" from the ceiling to the center of the TV—any reason I couldn't cut the top arm shorter and drill new holes to attach the lower arm, or is there a better solution I'm not seeing? Thank you.

BEST ANSWER: The mounting baker for the back of the tv is 9” and the swivel portion at the top of the mount is 4 1/2 inches for a total of 13 1/2 inches that you can’t change. Then you need some distance for the two arms to fit together. So in my opinion I don’t think only 12” will work. However for $30 why not get it and see if you can make to work??
Hope this helps!!

You would certainly be able to do that. You would just have to cut the center sleeve which goes inside the top and bottom sleeves.

Can the mount attach to a vertical surface like the side of a deck joist?
A shopper
on Jun 14, 2023
BEST ANSWER: Yes, the bracket will allow the arm to swing down so it will be parallel to a joist. However, the bracket itself is about 6" long, so the joist you attach to needs to be fairly wide itself. I'd also suggest using a bolt/nut to go entirely through the joist rather than just screw into the wood.

Yes, I believe it can. If you look on the picture, there is a slot that allows various positions. There are also two holes on each end that allow for a straight up and down configuration. Hope this helps and good luck !!

It can be, however when placed sideways, the actual mounting plate may block ports on the back of the monitor.

This mount works perfectly for what I need. The ceiling on my screened porch is slopped, so the mount adjusted perfectly to the slope I needed. Was easy to install and it is easy to reattach my TV when springtime arrives to put it back up for outdoor TV watching.
