from Copilot
The Monolith Encore T5 and Monolith Audition T5 speakers are both floor-standing speakers from Monoprice, but they cater to slightly different needs and budgets:
Price: The Encore T5 is generally more affordable compared to the Audition T5
. The Audition T5 is priced higher, reflecting its enhanced features and build quality1
.
Build Quality: The Encore T5 uses a more basic design and materials, making it a great budget option
. The Audition T5, on the other hand, offers better build quality with features like a silk dome tweeter with a waveguide and neodymium magnet, which contribute to improved sound quality1
.
Sound Quality: The Audition T5 is designed to provide a more refined audio experience with better dynamic range, bass extension, and imaging abilities
. The Encore T5, while still offering good sound quality, may not match the Audition T5 in terms of overall audio performance1
.
Design: The Encore T5 has a simpler, more utilitarian design, while the Audition T5 features a more aesthetically pleasing and robust design
.
In summary, if you're looking for a budget-friendly option with decent sound quality, the Encore T5 is a solid choice. If you're willing to spend a bit more for enhanced audio performance and build quality, the Audition T5 would be the better option.

I am not aware of any way. The speakers are spec'd 4 ohms. If you really want them as 8 ohm, then get two sets and hook them up in series.

These spec out very close to the Encore T5, exception is huge difference in weight. Does anyone truly know if it’s the enclosure that much thicker, or what’s inside making up the majority of the difference? Bracing, heavier magnets, speaker baskets, etc?
Thanks, Herschel

How much difference is 4ohm to 8 ohm speakers?
A shopper
on Nov 3, 2023
BEST ANSWER: 4 ohms have less resistance and will allow more current to flow. Many cheaper amps cannot handle the lower Ohm loads. Match the amp Ohm capabilities to the speaker and you will get better sound.

Best Crossover settings for these speakers?
A shopper
on Jan 19, 2025
BEST ANSWER: Hi, thank you for your question. This speakers doesnt have crossover settings but if you are planning to adjust it to the connected amp/AVR and you would need to consider the size of the room and listening position. Generally around 80Hz - 60Hz but it is always best to fine tune on what sounds best to you.

Monolith Audition
While I have not had these long enough to complete a reasonable break-in, I can make some general comments at this time.
First, the mid and high end seem clear and clean and open. Great for the price, especially since I got them on sale. The low end seems a little sloppy. There is enough bass, but it seems loose and not so tightly controlled. To test them I was using a DSD-256 recording of a pipe organ playing Bach's Toccata which is a tough test of the low end. Again though, they are not broken in and I have not had a lot of listening time with them. Would I buy them again? At the price I certainly cannot complain and would likely do so if my listening were mostly things like home theater where the full range sound was not the star. Maybe a little less so if I were into critical listening of just high end music. I would have to question how fair this comment is since what I am using instead for that critical listening costs significantly more.

First tower speakers
A pair of Audition T5s are the first tower speakers I've used in my living room HT. Very reasonable price, extremely well packed, and I'm impressed with the sound. Clear, yet full and rich, I'm very satisfied with the T5s.

Exceptional Speakers
There are several manufacturers of tower speakers and so many price categories where do you start. But if you're looking for entry level speakers you shouldn't have to look any further. I am very impressed with the build quality, shipment packaging and of course the sound. I bought these to upgrade my existing monoprice 5.1 speaker system since I swapped out to a 7.1 receiver. These will now be the front speakers.
I began breaking them in a different room where I have an Andrew Jones Pioneer set. I unplugged the SP-FS52 towers and plugged these in right next to the pioneers. These sounded just as good if not better and they weren't even broke in yet. I won't get into any technical characteristics these just sounded awesome. Not like an entry level set. If you're looking in this category.......Don't hesitate on these.

Good speakers
These are good speakers overall, and great for the price point. There's some things I would change, but for the price they punch way above their weight.
1. They look good - a little smaller than I thought but they fit my house well. The black finish is pretty dark, not quite as light as it looks in the pictures. This helps it work in my environment.
2. They get pretty loud (I'm running a Sony STR-DH590 in 2.1 with a powered Jamo 10" sub) and at a high amp level they sound clear. The high end tends to roll off a little early which leaves the towers sounding somewhat boxy. The two dedicated woofers don't work as hard as I thought they would, but that makes sense given they're 5.25" speakers. Physically, they can only do so much. That being said, without a sub, these will do a good job reproducing most metal/rock/alt/pop music transparently. Hip hop is pretty much off the table, and movies won't have the impact that's required.
