I am considering adding/upgrading another sub to my 7.2.4 TX-RZ3100 system. My current front sub is an SVS 2000 Pro (12") and the rear is an older, mismatched Boston Acoustic (10"). They actually sound good together, but I want to add a little more oomph and balance. Will this Monolith 12 V2 give me similar performance and match-up as well as another SVS Pro2000? There is a significant price savings. I will be giving up the SVS's app adjustability but the receiver itself along with the unit should be suffixient.

Never had SVS ones that you have.
Have tried A few Polks Klipsh and Bose… this one is way above all those… but again it’s not a real comparison. Buy the best Monoprice that you can afford and have space for. A friend of mine had twin 15inches and when you entered his house you just started feeling good… you know why… the sweet bass… that moved you and you felt it deep inside

Monolith 12 is better than the pb2000. It just doesn't have the app features. Monolith has more rms wattage and is bigger enclosure for deeper bass extensions.

Do I need to put this on an isolation platform ? or add isolation legs? I have a laminate floor btw.
A shopper
on Mar 24, 2022
BEST ANSWER: I have a hardwood floor and used a small piece of carpeting under it. The sub is so massive (100 lbs), and the cabinet so rigid, that there is no vibration that would couple to the floor. The carpet allows you to slide the sub for adjustments, protects the floor, and minimizes any possibility of a buzz.

Comes with rubber isolation feet. Depending on your living arrangements. Your gonna need isolation pad to not disturb the peace. But on the other hand, this sub is bigger than any isolated pads I've seen.

You will probably want to, the little spike legs will not help much on a hard floor. I used the SVS(6)sound path isolation feet, the look good and fiction very well.

The amplifier reads "120 vac" so I don't believe it is universal 100-240 voltage

Does this offer the same performance as the previous design Monolith 12" THX subwoofer? A quick glance at the CEA-2010 SPL measurements suggests its the exact same but would like some confirmation that this product is just a aesthetic re-design and that this subwoofer would work parallel with the previous model if we wanted to pair the two up for dual/triple/etc subwoofer configuration.

In the specs the new "improved" magnet structure seems to have lost the shorting rings. Yet they are still shown in the driver features. Did the rings go away when they changed to a larger magnet?

On all your sub specs can you use "HxWxD" (which they seem to be) for dimensions instead of just raw figures leaving us to guess which is which? Some dimensions are crucial for placement consideration.

I see this hits 20hz in THX mode sealed, but CAN it make it to 17hz in THX unsealed, like it can in Extended EQ? I know it is not recommended to run THX unsealed, but I’m guessing that is just for verification purposes.

BEST ANSWER: Why would it not be recommended to run a THX subwoofer in sealed? They sound fantastic sealed, but as in all sealed designs, there is a significant drop in output compared to running it in ported mode. I think you will find our ported subwoofers sound tighter than even other brands sealed subwoofers, if that's what you are looking for. The subwoofer has output down into 10Hz or better.

Monolith by Monoprice 12in THX Certified Ultra 500-Watt Subwoofer Amplifier
Does the speaker grill sit flush with the enclosure? I just purchased the original version because I didn't see this one, that version has a gap that appears to expose the driver to dust ect. Considering returning the one I bought for this, also since I might buy a second one later and would want them to match

Great subs
I already had a V1 version of this sub and decided to add a 2nd. The V2 cabinet is a slightly different shape and size vs the v1 beyond just the difference in the driver but its minor. The bass is fantastic... as soon as I turned on a good bass heavy song the bass made me giggle like a little kid. I have a fairly long and narrow room with 9ft ceilings and it sounds great. Yes its very heavy, I even had to help the FexEx guy carry it which I was not surprised about, I caught the guy carrying the first one on camera by himself last year and felt sorry for him and impressed...lol Great Value for the money no doubt, most of my speakers are SVS, but if you do not need all the frills of the phone app etc these are hard to beat. After a few hours I did decide to move my old small 12 behind my couch for more tactile feel (not that I really need it but who really needs any of this) Great Job monoprice as always.

Power bass with plenty of headroom
Great sub for the money. Powerful, deep bass and built like a tank. Bass is smooth and tactile. Will be adding another one to make the room response even better. This is replacing a PSA S1500 which was awesome in its own right, but is being moved into my living room setup.

Best 12" Sub for the money, no doubt.
We have a very nice home theater 7.1.4 setup. We have had another pretty high end 10" sub for quite some time but I like my bass. Our home theater room is kind of small at 12ftx24ft but it works great for us. I wanted something with a little more low end and also more thump for listening to music. I almost got the 15" Monolith but decided to try out the 12" first. Boy am I glad I didn't get the 15", I don't think my small theater room could handle it. This 12" rattles things on the opposite end of the house. Super happy with this purchase and may try out some of the tower speakers next as I upgrade my entire system.

Excellent for music as well
This is excellent sub. I use it for music, it fills the room with very deep and controlled base. I use it with one port closed and with extended EQ. It is quite big and heavy. I had SVS sub previously, but much smaller one, so it is not apple to apple, but this one sound better and fuller and musically hides in the room better. I was very skeptical to use THX certified sub for music, but boy, I was wrong. I would easily bought this one again.

Great sub, good specs, bought 2 of these.
Upgraded from 2 polk pws 505's, the plate amp on these both failed within a month of each other. Upgraded to these, did not realize how much lower end extension I was missing out on when listening to movies. These will rattle the couch and punch you in the chest. Don't hesitate, far superior upgrade from the sub $500 category of subs.
