Can you remove the spikes if these were to be used on hardwood floors?

BEST ANSWER: Yes. However, the base of the stand is still sharp and rough enough that it would likely scratch any wood flooring. I removed the spikes from mine and replaced them with a foam base, which works reasonably well.

I have them sitting on my hardwood floor with no spikes. However, while the build quality is very good, the feet platform is not totally flat. So there may be a slight wobble.

Yes, in fact the spikes aren't installed when the stands arrive, they are included as a separate item in the shipping box, so just don't use them.

Are these actually made to put sand in them? I mean, does it say to put sand in them in the manual that comes with them? Just curious

BEST ANSWER: Hello, It would be your option to fill it with sand. You can fill it with sand to further reduce the vibrations or resonances that can color the sound and reduce fidelity.

Yes, it does say in the manual you can put sand in them, and they are made to be filled with sand. It is your choice whether you want to use sand or not. I believe the speakers preform better with sand in the stands, but they still work fine without sand.

High Quality
I am 100% impressed and very happy with my new Monolith stands. I wanted a stand that was heavy-duty, well-made, and aesthetically beautiful and I got all three of those - and for a very good price! I filled my stands with sand to make them even a little more sturdy but the gauge of steel was thick enough that they would have been fine even without the sand. My speakers weigh 23 pounds and they sit just fine on the tops of the stands. Very impressive quality!
