Are you currently shipping the units that have the xlr to rca fix? It was reported on AVS website but haven’t heard anything as of late.

BEST ANSWER: It has not been implemented in these units, but we can send out a kit to you that can be installed. This is only applicable if you are going to use an XLR to RCA adapter. If connecting XLR to XLR, no need to have fix.

I have a support ticket response that forwarded my inquiry to a higher tier. It has been a week with no response. It looks like a generic Hypex design with the added heatsink. The Hypex design makes it easy to repair, but I would like the Monoprice 5-year replacement warranty. I'd like to know if the fix hasn't been implemented or will the shield plate be included for DIY modification. A simple fix to implement, but going unanswered leads to other concerns.

I am interested in this amp, but 8 channels is confusing to me. 5, 7, 9, 11 makes sense, but maybe I'm missing something. What home theater configuration would use the 8th channel? Thanks!

Do you need an XLR into each port to make the correlating speaker work? So if you have a source that's RCA, you'd have to buy several RCA splitters and RCA to XLR adapters for it to work? But then you get the hum. So what do you plan to do to fix this massive error in design?

BEST ANSWER: This unit only has balanced XLR. I own this and it is working out great, but my processer has all balanced XLR outputs for connection. I also own the 9x which has XLR and RCA inputs, again I am using XLR with 9x as well.
In my opinion this unit was designed to be smaller dimensionally (low height), so eliminating the RCA would be the correct engineering choice as most home audio nowadays uses XLR. If you required RCA I suggest looking at the 9x, 11x or the 7x (200W x 7).
This unit just doesn't fit your application needs, but that does not mean it has a "massive error in design". It was perfect to power my 6 - ATMOS speakers while comfortably fitting inside my current audio tower. A taller unit would have caused issues for me as the 9x already takes up a lot of space.

How did you rack mount this amp (M8125x)?
Daniel L
on Nov 23, 2022
I need 2 of these, but they must be able to fasten into a rack. A rack shelf is not acceptable. I know that the rack ears are not included in the box. Does Monoprice sell the rack ears? If not, what is a solution to get them? (Perhaps from your OEM?)

The specs list this as 200 wpc @8 ohms. 200 wpc @ 4 ohms. But continue reading and then the specs change to 200 @8 and 175 @ 4. Can you confirm the true specs for wpc for 8 and 4 ohms? Thank you.

Powering full range Polk r700 towers
Awesome Amp! Powering a set of Polk R700s towers, a Polk L400 Center, and Polk rears. Great power, never gets hot, or warm really. even with running Polk tower speakers with dual 8" woofers at full range. Powering 7 speakers in a home theater config this thing has ample power on tap and so much more to spare.

Plenty of Power for my Surround and Atmos speakers
Wanted class D Hypex or Purifi. The build quality of this amp is awesome and looks great too. I have no noise when sitting idle , using XLR connections to my HTP-1 processor. I use these 8 channels to power my LS, RS, LRS, RRS, and 4 atmos channels and never had an issue running at Reference levels on my M&K speakers running at 4 ohms. Recommended buy.
PS ,my LCRs are powered by a higher wattage Purify amplifier by another brand

Quality and Value
The Monolith M8125 is built to a high standard and delivers great performance. The noise floor is vanishingly low in my system and it generates more power than most situations would require. It has no problems handling the custom subwoofers in my home theater (Dayton Audio UM18-22 18" drivers in sealed enclosures). The relatively shallow depth of the M8125 allows it to be used in smaller cabinets and it is cool in operation even when pushed fairly hard. The only limitations are the requirement for a 20 amp circuit for full power output and the lack of unbalanced (RCA) inputs. Highly recommended.
