BEST ANSWER:A posting from another site lists the focal length as 3.6mm. It is definitely a wide angle camera. Good for full room views, but backgrounds have some fish-eye distortion.

This item did not work well. Picture quality was not good, audio rarely was able to be understood by folks on the other end of the call. I plugged in another camera that I had and all of these issues were fixed. I will stick to the major name brand players for a webcam from here forward.
I tried to return it, but Monoprice never got back to me when two separate return inquiries were submitted. If you want one...Ill sell you mine for cheap ;)
pros: * cheap for its price (bought at $40) * works as a webcam as advertised * plug and play; no software to go with it
cons: * pretty grainy * no manual focus or other camera controls * plug and play; no software to go with it
conclusion: it's a webcam with poor quality. great for video calling, but not good for my purpose, which is streaming art. included are pictures and what's in the box.
The image is so grainy it is almost unusable. My old Playstation 3 Eye camera has a better image. The microphone refused to register after every change in the control panel possible was made.
Great meeting camera for Linux, ensuring privacy is an exercise for the user.
Next to a bunch of generic laptop webcams, this is the sharpest image in most of my Zoom meetings. I run a recent Fedora Linux, and had no problems at all with getting set up. It was truly plug and play.
My only minuses are with privacy, the indicator which shows whether the webcam is active is always lit, but glows brighter with use, and there is no lens cap to ensure you're not accidentally broadcasting and random times.
Title says it all. This is way better than the integrated 720p webcam in my laptop. Autofocus is stable and the camera has a surprisingly good low light performance. The front LEDs indicate power and if the webcam is live. This is definitely a wide angle camera - I found a source online that lists a 3.6mm focal length, and I experience a notable but not too distracting fish-eye effect in the background. Regardless, it is dead simple - plug it in and go, no control software to deal with. Certainly a blessing for ease of use, but you also don't have any control outside of moving the physical camera around.
The stand is simple and stable enough. It does have a threaded hole for use with a tripod, and a lip on the base just below the camera allows it to hang off the top edge of a laptop, which is how I use it. There is a pad of rubberized material on the base that has some friction to it, but the camera is still light and top heavy - if you need precise positioning or vibration resistance, you'll want to consider a mounting solution.
For $40, this is a real solid competitor to the mainstream brands, especially since this has been consistently in stock.
