BEST ANSWER: No, they appear to be soldered. For hotswappable, you want to spend about $75 and buy a Keychron C2 (hotswappable version, of course) or another entry level, customizable mechanical keyboard. However, this is a pretty decent, inexpensive keyboard. Definitely a great start for someone that is using a membrane keyboard. The Kailh box reds are a good introduction to linear switches.

Hi, do you have a Mac version?
Tomas S
on Oct 25, 2021
BEST ANSWER: Tomas, I have a very similar Monoprice keyboard. The "secret" in using these "Windows keyboards" on a Mac is plug in the Keyboard normally, and then bring up System Preferences>Keyboard.. Click the oval that says "Modifier keys". A pop up will come up, and on it you first need to select the keyboard you want to change (probably called "Gaming Keyboard). Then you will see that there are five keys that can be modified. You want to modify the Option key (3rd item in the list in the center of the pop-up) so that it becomes the command key. You then want to change the command key (4th item in the pop-up) so it becomes the option key. Click "OK" and you have modified your keyboard function to operate as a Mac keyboard. Of course you have not changed what is printed on the keys, but I suspect you rarely look at that on your Mac anyway.

Does the illumination stay on or does it time out and go dark?

BEST ANSWER: They’re (9) lighting options for the keyboard. You leave it illuminated or turn off the lights completely. Several options have the lights in motion.

Mechanical Keyboard
Keyboard looks like the picture. Good travel on the keys. I wish the lowest light setting on the keys was one more step lower but still very acceptable. 9 out of ten.

Good value for the price.
Good upgrade from a cheap membrane keyboard. To my knowledge, the switches are not hotswappable and are soldered. I really like the Kailh box red switches - they are a decent entry level linear switch.

very quite, a pleasure to type on.... since the keys are sticking up, cleaning the keyboard can be very easy.

High quality but a bit touchy
This kb is very high quality but it's taking some time to get used to the touch of the keys. They are VERY sensitive. Just barely touching a key causes it to activate. For example, if I relax my wrists a bit too much and contact the ctl key, my browser starts resizing, etc. I don't know if I'll ever get used to these keys. I wish they had a bit more tactile response and that they were a little less sensitive.

Great while it worked
I've used quite a few mechanical keyboards, and this is good for the price. There are certainly better, but it's a solid keyboard. It cost close to double when I bought mine, and I'd still consider it's feel good at that price.
Shift keys are very slightly bindy if you hit the very right or left edge, not so much that I consider it any kind of real problem. Other long keys are all good.
I've had the keyboard about a year. In that time lights on Q, R, U, Left 'Shift', 'PrtSc', and the minus key on the number pad stopped working. Not a big deal for me, I didn't care too much about the LEDs. I have other mechanical keyboards without LEDs and I actually prefer not having LEDs (but my daughter would turn them on when I'd turn them off.)
A few months ago, maybe 9 months or so after purchase, the column that has 8, I, K, and comma keys stopped working. Nothing spilled on it, or anything. Just stopped working, I'm not particularly hard on keyboards, my Leopold FC900R and Ducky One TKL have lasted ~5 years and are still going. My unit at least was not at all durable.

My first mechanical keyboard
I always wanted to try a mechanical keyboard, but was turned off by the high price. Having had great experience with monoprice headphones, I wanted to give their keyboard a try.
The Monoprice Worksteam mechanical keyboard has a solid build.
The design is simple and utilitarian - just how I like it.
The red switches have only gentle clicking sound when typing.
The only flashy thing is the various light settings for the key backlights. I probably won't be using the customization features - but others might appreciate them.
It took some time getting used to a mechanical keyboard: the keys are more elevated than a regular keyboard.
My only concern is that the letters on the keyboard are difficult to see without the backlight, so I have to keep them on even during the day.
Overall, it was a great purchase. Only time will tell how long this keyboard (and backlights) will last - I have a feeling it will last me a long, long time!

A quiet mechanical keyboard
Not as "clickety" as I prefer, and the lighting is all white, but it does the job.
