No. Don't know. However, if you really want the SUB and the WOOF then go for the 12 inch elsewhere. This sub is good for small room small system. I use it for my HT, but, I have 3 other subs in my system already. I like it.

Monolith subwoofers come in many sizes, 10 inch, 12 inch and larger. If you are wanting one with the same wedge shape I doubt they will do that since they are already producing those bigger ones.

Can I connect this to powered JBL speakers via RCA cables or do I need a separate AMP?

RCA will work just fine. I use powered Edifier speakers that have a line out to this powered sub.

Well I just bought this. No manual in the box. Just a card that says to search the product number on monoprice.com for more information.
So you could really use a manual.
First question: Hooking to the sub out of an Onkyo receiver. Can I use either the left OR right inputs? Do I have to use an RCA splitter?

BEST ANSWER: You can use the left or right input from a single subwoofer output.
Reasons for left and right inputs are:
If you have a rare left and right subwoofer output on the receiver then you might use a stereo cable or use two subwoofers.
If you connect a left and right speaker output to the sub then you can use the left and right outputs on the sub to send power to your stereo speakers.
If for some reason you want to use a splitter then Monoprice sells one for about $1.50.

I used, and recommend, a Y-cable (or adapter, I suppose) to connect the receiver to a sub. Single output from the receiver to the L/R on the sub.

This sub has a down-firing driver. How will it sound on shag carpeting?

BEST ANSWER: It'll sound fine, but depending on the carpet it might sink into the carpet too much and the driver will wind up hitting the carpet.

Just fine. Placement and room size will have a MUCH bigger impact than a shag carpet

Is this a Class D or Class A/B amp?
A shopper
on Nov 8, 2023
I'm about 98% sure its class D, as it has no external cooling fins and is fairly lightweight for a 150w amp,.
Sounds great for its size, just don't expect it to shake the house but they are great for small rooms or limited space.

For a single, LFE signal/cable coming from a AV receiver, should I connect to the Left input of the subwoofer, or use a Y-splitter to connect to both Left & Right inputs?

Super noob question....but this sub didn't come with a manual (and Monoprice doesn't even produce one!!), so here we are. The back of the sub has four RCA connections, two white and two red: a pair for 'In' and a pair for 'Out'. Since my receiver has a single 'out' for the sub, I already acquired a splitter...but do I plug the cables into the "Out" connections on the sub or the "In"? I suspect, "In", and I'm already embarrassed for asking this...but the blame goes to monoprice for not having a bloody manual!

Its alright. For the 99 bucks I bought for its perfect.
For the price I purchased this for it is a good sub. Using it in combination with some JBL LSR305 studio monitors coming out of a Minifuse 2 interface. My one complaint and reason why I took a star out is that the sub picks up a lot of noise that I had to buy a device to eliminate because it was unbearable out of the box. I know or at least think it was the sub due to one troubleshoot step that I took. So out of the interface directly to the speakers gave me noise free sound. But when going to the subwoofer then from the sub to the speakers both the sub and the speakers would hum loudly. Like small ac unit beside me loud. So the way I was able to make it work was coming out of the interface to the speakers and using the headphone output on the interface to go to the sub. This gave me control of the sub levels without me reaching under my desk and it isolated the two from each other as my interface has independent volumes for the main line out and the headphone out.

Name this thing Napoleon... it's small with an attitude
I'm setting up a surround sound system for my mom and was looking for a small sub as she doesn't want much. I had low expectations being an 8". I was HIGHLY surprised when i hooked it up to my 7.1.6 system to test it and it was hitting lower than my current 12". My room is just over 2000 sq/ft. and there was sufficient bass from this speaker for my space. now, this is an 8" sub... it is not chest thumping bass, but is a quality, tight bass.
after hearing this speaker, i'll be replacing the subs in my theater room with a pair of 12" monolith thx subs.

Great value sub!
This was a great buy on sale. This sub in a small to medium sized room will play into the mid 20's easily. It's tight and punchy and when used in multiples will make for a great listening experience for music or movies. The full range line out makes daisy chaining multiple subs a snap. I highly recommended especially at its low price.

You've read enough reviews, buy it
Know what you're getting and you'll be pleased. I also have 2 Monolith 15's and the Monolith 2-10; this cannot, nor should be expected, to compete with them. This sub is designed for bookshelf/satellite speakers in a smaller room.
This is a nice, well built, tight sounding sub, that packs plenty of punch for it's size. I use it on desktop setup and it works beautifully. Anyone on a budget or looking for a compact sub with good output into the mid/low 20's? Stop reading and buy it. It's good,

Awesome sound - used for my office/gym desktop setup
I have a pair of Polk XT-15 desktop speakers and wanted more bass. I ordered the Monoprice 8" THX woofer when it went on sale. Hooked it up to my Fosi Audio V3. This woofer added the bass I was looking for. Sounds really good to me.

Great for a casual 2.1 setup
Was gifted some Edifier R1280DBs but was looking for more bass and saw that this was on sale so I gave it a shot seeing that it was reviewed favorably given its price point. Had to hook my setup to an external USB DAC/amp because plugging the 3.5mm directly to my PC resulted in a constant hum/buzz. For what I paid for this subwoofer, it blew away my expectations and was exactly what I was looking for to upgrade my desk setup.

Best sounding 8" on the market.. bar non.
these are amazing for those of us who dont have a bunch of space.. and for the size they hot hard and low.. very tight controlled bass one of these is good for up to about 1200 cubic ft but the real winner is when you get 2 or 4 for each corner.. i have had SVS subs.. while good.. this is just better. and these can be had for around 200 USD several times a year.. at that price its an absolute no brainer.. buy 2 and thank me later..
smooth controlled bass.. and with room gain (corner placment) it can see an f3 of about 19-20hz.. so as low as any meaningfully audiable sound in movies.. absolutly amazing
if you have 1 this is easily an 8/10 (10 being perfect and requiring fixing nulls and sound treatments in you room and professional placment.. use of REW...)
2 of these or more easily 9/10 (perfect sound still needs work and these are capable) for the price absolute 10.
i own 2 in a 1200 cubit foot room.. and im flat to 18hz.. i previously had a 21' sub pushing 3000w program and im telling you these are smaller and i dont miss my larger custon setup at all.. and this cost over 1500$ less..
do your self a favor.. buy 2.

Impressive
WOW. I was blown away by the quality of this subwoofer for the price. I am using it in a room around 22 by 24 feet with high ceilings and wood walls. This sub provides good bass despite many sites saying I need a monster of a sub. Auto sensitivity is a little weak, I needed to turn up the AVR sub level up a bit.
