Are these a timbre match for Monolith by Monoprice THX-460T towers and the Monolith by Monoprice THX-365C center?
I have the towers and the center and looking for surrounds.

I use mine as height speakers. I would say no issue using them as surround to match up wirh with the rest that you have.

Not exactly but their tonality is close as they are both fairly neutral. You'll have no issues integrating them.

Two questions.
1.) Would these be a good timber match for the encore series?
2.) The specifications, at states that there's a woofer and a tweeter. I only see one driver.
Are there actually two drivers or just one driver?

Not an exact timbre match for the Encore speakers.

There is a tweeter inset into the woofer---a concentric driver.
Not an exact timbre match for the Encore speakers.

Hello. I am about to set up these satellite Coaxial speakers as part of my 11 channel system. The base 7 speakers are Encore T6, B6, C6. I will write back what adjustments, if any, are needed to match for sound.
The 81db rating is the first adjustment I can see will be needed.

are these compatible with 8ohm, is there an issue with running at that impedance?
A shopper
on May 20, 2023
They are nominally 4 ohm speakers, so they present on average a 4 ohm impedance to your amplifier. As long as your amplifiers output is rated for 4 ohms or less (my Bryston is rated at 2 ohms output) you should be fine, providing you have sufficiently thick speaker wires (sufficiently low gauge). Cheap speaker wire tends to make an amplifier run hot if the amplifier does not have sufficiently low output impedance. I like to run two pairs of speakers in parallel from my stereo amplifier, so two ohm output impedance is necessary. If you are using a multi channel surround sound amplifier you should not have to worry about output impedance since you will have one pair of speakers connected to each channel.

I can not see any reason why they would not. I have mine connected to a similar stye Yamaha receiver and they sound great. If you are looking for theater sound I would match them with a center channel speaker. I was pleasantly surprised by the speakers for the price. I had low expectations and the speakers far exceeded them.

I need a smallish speaker to work as side surrounds for a 5.1.4 system with the thx 365iw as LR and THX LCR as Center. The main listening position will be roughly 4 to 4.5feet from these surrounds (Left Right and Center are ~10.5 feet from the main listening position). Will these be sufficient to give a good sound stage at such distance? Are there better alternatives?

great speakers but weirdly hard to drive
speakers are excellent esp at the sale price i got them for but they are really hard to drive: 4 ohm and 81db sensitivity, I'm guessing this has to do with the THX certification, but still you need lots of power for these tiny speakers. otherwise excellent.

Satellite Speakers
I canceled the order. I was looking for Atmos Height speakers to replace Cambridge Minx speakers. These were double the size. Needs something that is Wife Friendly smh ???????. I've heard good things about this speakers and have been using Monoprice for years with various cables and know that these speakers are as good as the Monoprice brand.

High Quality and solid built
I have not been able to hook this pair up and use them yet. I'm waiting on the speaker wire. But the build quality is excellent and arrived well packed and in perfect visual condition.
I will be using them as my surround speakers in an apartment. I will wait and see how they sound for that application...
Others complained about the connection type on the back. It seems like they used those for versatility.
I will try and remember to update this review or post another one once I connect them and listen to them for a bit.

Fit for the purpose
Completed my monolith setup with these as surround back speakers. Fairly easy room adjustment via Onkyo receiver, now all speakers are THX certified and sound appears to be a bit more homogeneous..
Only issue is the scissor type wire terminal that I don't trust in the long run.

Great on sale price
I have the 465Tx2, 365Tx2 and 365C. I wanted to try these to see how they are as a small room system and as atmos speakers. Like the rest of the THX lineup, they excel in clarity.
One reviewer did not like the mounting options. If wanting to mount directly to the ceiling, double sided tape may be the way to go. However, there are other options: use a mounting bracket and the screw hole on the bottom. Simple and easy

Nice looking. Poor mounting options.
Not bad for the price and they look nice. Only given 3 stars because of poor mounting options. Monoprice missed an opportunity for some atmos speakers because there is no easy way to mount the speakers down facing on the ceiling other than double sided tape.

Impressive for their size
I bought a pair of these along with the M518HT THX 5.1 system to complete my 7 bed layer system. I was weary about purchasing these because of their size and that I was replacing my much larger Klipsch speakers (Towers and bookshelves). I was also nervous about these speakers because I am powering my LCR's with an Emotiva BasX A3 and other channels with the Emotiva BasX A7 (More than enough power) that I could possibly blow these babies. All I can say is WOW! These speakers kill it! They handle the power from the amps with zero issues. I have them crossed over at 90 htz and they sound great. Having all the same exact speakers gives you a much more immersed experience while watching movies. I plan on getting two more pairs to fill out my current Klipsch Atmos speakers to have a completely immersive home theater experience. I am completely happy with these speakers.

Nice Upgrade
I had some of those name brand, overpriced double cube speakers that just weren't cutting it for me. I hooked these up and WoW! More sizzling highs and punchier mid-range that I almost forgot existed. Coupled with a powered sub they are fantastic upgrade to my old system. Clearer, cleaner definition with excellent separation at a great price! Perfect for home cinema and very nice for music at a moderate volume. Just get a pair and find out. You won't be disappointed!

These speakers are impressive
Powered by my Morrison preamp (rated best preamp on the market by Audio Critic in the late 1990's), Bryston's top of the line poweramp in 2003, and Sony superCD player (generally rated as the second best preamp in the world in 2011 after the Meridian CD player), the Monoprice speakers sounded very impressive. These speakers are impressively heavy for such a small size, with excellent fit and finish. I have always chosen Morrison and Hegeman coaxial speakers in the past, because to my ears coaxial speakers simply sound better, so it is not surprising that I like these speakers.
