BEST ANSWER: You could use this wire a few different ways. Join 2 pairs together to make it heavier gauge, use it for bi-amping (separate runs for woofer/tweeter), or for a stereo pair (left +, left -, right +, right -). I used it to run both left and right channels for my surrounds from a wall plate behind my receiver to a wall plate at the back of the room.

Yes, this wire is indeed special for speakers, as it has a very high copper content, and therefore adds virtually no additional impedance to the speakers. In other words, all the energy gets to the speakers, and is not consumed in the wire.
This wire is for two (stereo) speakers. You should always use separate "hot" or Plus wires (+) and separate "negative" or return wires (-) for each of the two speakers. Personally I would use the red (+) and the white (-) as one pair for one speaker, and the black (+) and the green (-) as the second pair. Totally arbitrary , your choice, just make sure you get it the same at the speaker and the amplifier end.
Hope this helps...

It can be used for a stereo mono pair of speakers. If you want both left and right channels coming out of the same speaker (in ceiling, patio speakers). If you are moving around an area alot i.e kitchen or patio you may not want left right chennels. Typically a stereo/mono speaker has two tweeters to carry both left and right channels in the same speaker and I believe that is referred to as mono. Someone else may have another use for them.

Some speakers and amps can be "biwired" to draw power for tweeters and woofers separately. This could be used for that. Also, it is sometimes convenient to run a four conducter wire for in wall installations to minimize to the number of words to run. You would need to terminate the wires at some kind of box, and then split to connect to speakers, but that is sometimes a good option. Good luck.

This wire is meant for a pair of speakers. The red/white pair for one speaker, and the other pair of wires for the other speaker. I used this wire to run from my amp to my surround, porch & patio speakers. If you are running this wire to only one speaker, just let the unused pair of wires unconnected.

This wire is meant to be used to connect a PAIR of speakers. Red and white for one side, and green and black for the other side. If you are only connecting one speaker this isn't the right choice of wires, but it can obviously still work for one if that is all you need to power.

It's just regular specker wire. They bundled 2 pairs for two separate speakers. If you have two speakers red and white go to one speaker and red and green go to the other. Or any combination of the two. Just remember what goes where when plugged into your source.

Can i use monoprice 4 core between my amp and speakers using 2 conductors?
A shopper
on Aug 27, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Yes
You could use two wires per speaker
Could run signal for two separate speakers/channels (2 wires per channel) and depending how far apart the speakers are, you could separate the four wires at some point and run them to two different locations (say a left and right speaker/channel)
Alternatively, if you run the wires a long distance (say longer than 30 feet or so), you might twist two wires together, to make the equivalent of a thicker gauge, to minimize signal loss over long distance

Yes, this product just makes it easier to run both speaker's wires through one conduit and is most practical when using a wall plate where all four wires connect in close proximity to each other, but I've sliced the white conduit(it actually has a string to pull for easy slicing) and run to speakers and wall plates that are a few feet apart. Just use red/white for one speaker and green/black for the other.

What is the recommended gauge for a 40' run to rear speakers - do I need 12 ga., or will 14 ga be sufficient?
Michael
on Dec 2, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I have longer runs out to my back patio speakers using only 14 ga and it works fine. I like to use 12ga in my house, and that's what I run to all my surround speakers in my theater. I use 10 for my main speakers. However... there are those that believe you need to buy cryogenically treated platinum wire that would cost $20 per foot. So... there are obvious reasons why you would want thicker wire... it has less resistance. On a 40-foot run for surrounds I'd use 12ga... but if cost is an object, 14ga would probably be fine.

I use the 14 gauge when I added to Dolby Atmos speakers. The run was about 35 feet. Are used the four conductor so I would just have to run One cable from my receiver to the speakers and then split it at the speakers

No problem. The ampacity of this cable is ideal for 24 volts DC. Be careful of the length that you run as you will have line loss due to resistance

total thickness of the outer white cable sheathing?

BEST ANSWER: It's not completely circular but I measured the cable to be a little under 13 mm on average. So basically 1/2" diameter on the total cable. If you are asking the thickness of the white sheathing itself, that's about 0.020" thick. Hope this helps.

The sheathing itself is a bit less than one mm thick (maybe .9mm as it fits between the mm hash marks on my tape measure). Sadly I don't have a caliper for more precise measurement.
