I have the Macbook Air M1 which ONLY has two USB-C ports (Ugh). To get the cable to work, I had to send the HDMI through a USB-C 7-in-1 hub to convert the HDMI to USB-C. Then the USB-A on the computer side of the cable had to go through a USB-A to USB-C adapter. It worked great! Only problem is that I can't power my laptop at the same time since it also goes through USB-C...

I have the Creator 22 and it uses USB-A, which is what my computer has. I would think that a USB-C to USB-A should still work since newer phones use USB-C and I can use them on my computer.

Does this, or the other similar graphic pen displays, work with apple's M1 chip computers?

BEST ANSWER: It should - it's compatible with MacOS, and as that runs on both the older Intel machines and the mew M series processors, there should be no difference as far as the user is considered. Support for hardware like this is at the OS level, not the hardware level.
I'm confident enough that I bought one of these to go with my new M1 MacBook Pro which is due to be delivered in a couple of weeks.

Having difficulties installing my tablet on my iMac M1. I was able to download the driver package, but did not see the IIP Creator software. Is there a separate download or update for the drivers? Or is it still not compatible with OS systems?

Is the screen fully laminated?

BEST ANSWER: I assume so. There is only a thin piece of matte plastic between the display and where your pen touches. The plastic covers the entire top of the display including the margin where there is no display. If I'm not answering your question fully, let me know.

Is it an "active" or "passive" pen?
William G
on May 24, 2022
BEST ANSWER: It is an active pen. The pen has technology in it to communicate with the tablet, which means it's active. A passive pen would be those that use pressure to write, such as the signature lines when you use your credit card at a store. To understand how the pen works without a battery, look up "Electro-magnetic Resonance stylus" or "How EMR Stylus Work?" The short answer is that the pen does not need to make contact with the surface of the tablet to work. This means you don't have to press hard to write. The great thing about this is that you reduce the risk of scratching the tablet. (And of course there is no battery that needs to be replaced.)

I purchased this last week, and it appears the pen isn't behaving like I expected. I expected the buttons on the pen to respond like the buttons on a mouse. Instead when I press a button on the pen I have to hit ESC on my keyboard to get it to stop. Is this normal? Is anyone else getting this behavior?

Is there a more complete manual for this device? The quick-start guide was extremely useful, and helped me get it up and running, but I could use more complete information, such as how to properly use all those buttons, the two wheels on the side, and the "switches" under the wheels. For example, can you turn this thing OFF? Or is the only way to turn it off to unplug it from your computer?
So far, this is a fantastic device. It works with every piece of graphics software I've tried with it (Corel Painter, Rebelle, FlamePainter). I will say that it is fiendishly finicky when you're calibrating it. Take your time and be VERY precise when tapping the center of the cross-shaped registration points the calibration routine puts on the screen. If you're not precise, the place where it actually "clicks" will not be where the tip of your stylus is touching. Repeat the calibration until it's as close to the same point as possible.

Grandson loves it!
Got this at an exceptional price from Monoprice for my #2 grandson's birthday. It is just like the ones they used in an art class at school, and he loves it. His only comment is that it really needs more/better software to be useful.

Excellent device, great value, only has a few little surprises.
This display tablet is delight. The price is amazing, the unit is thin and fairly light, the package comes with some very nice accessories (when it's unplugged, it comes with a lovely heavy felt protective sleeve) and lots of spare nibs for the extremely light and nimble batteryless stylus.
There are only a few surprises that can cause a bit of consternation. First, the custom cable is micro HDMI. That's a good thing...unless your monitor is taking up your only HDMI port on your graphics board. My Nvidia card has one HDMI port and three Display Ports. My monitor has the opposite port arrangement. If you have a similar arrangement, buy a DisplayPort cable when you buy the tablet. The reason is left as an exercise for the student.
Calibrating is finicky. Clicking on the right spots only once each is difficult but worth doing carefully.
A better manual would also be a very useful thing. The quick start guide is good, but not enough.
That's it. Buy it already.

Great for some uses but lacking in others
I picked up 2 of these. 1 for myself and 1 for my son to use for their artwork and drawing purposes. We work on Mac computers and it took a bit to get set up to work. I use mine on both my desktop and my new MacBook Pro M1. It works good more my main purpose which doesn't require pressure sensitivity. For my son's use it is pretty much useless and they'll likely just use it as a second monitor on the MacBook Pro M1 when they are editing videos. But we've spent so much time trying to figure out how to get the art and drawing applications that they use to recognize the tablet pressure. We've searched out newer drivers and any info we can find on this issue to no avail. We can not get any of the art drawing apps on my desktop with Mac OS 10.14.6 or either one of our MacBook Pro M1's to work with pressure sensitivity. Still hoping that there will be new drivers or updates that will solve the issue.

however, whatever you do, dont use the slip sleeve, it literally scratches the screen. I'm so bummed it basically ruined my tablet.

Great pen display for much less than the competitors
This is my first pen display since I'm just getting into applications when a pen display is the best option. The tablet arrived today and I just finished setting it up on my new Macbook Air M1 computer.
It took some work arounds since the Macbook Air M1 only has two ports, both being USB-C (the oval type). The included cable that comes with the tablet is mini-HDMI (tablet-side) to HDMI (computer-side), and USB-C (tablet-side) to USB-A (computer-side). So I had to run the HDMI through a 7-in-1 USB-C hub to connect that to my laptop, and a USB-A to USB-C adapter to plug the power/data cable into my computer. NOTE: The holes where you connect the cable into the tablet on small, tight, and deep., so all of my other mini-HDMI and USB-C cables would not fit.
My next problem was that Monoprice has an old Mac driver on their website, so it was preventing me from calibrating the tablet. After trying for 30 minutes, I went directly to the manufacturer's website (Bosto Tablet) and got their driver (dated: 12-10-2021). When installing this you have to 1) manually right click and select Open, because it is an unsigned driver so the Mac doesn't trust it. 2) You have to go into your Mac's System Preferences then Security & Privacy, then Accessibility and select the checkbox next to BostoTablet.app. This is normal since you have to do the same thing when setting up a mouse. 3) Once installed, open the BostoTablet app in Applications. You should see a few things: Under "General" you should see Pen Status as Connected. Next go straight to Calibration and follow those steps. Your pen won't register until you start calibration. Place the pen on the table in the middle of the cross-hairs for a few seconds; the cross-hairs will then move to the each corner so you can repeat those steps. After that, the pen is fully functional. You can now start adjusting pressure and sensitivity. Note: you do not have to press hard on the tablet. In fact, the tablet can sense the pen before you even make contact. To learn how this works, do a search for "How EMR Stylus Works?" (EMR stands for "Electro-Magnetic Resonance")

For the Non-Professional Artist Who Can't Afford a Cintiq!
First off, I'm not a professional. I make comics and other art principally with legacy tools. I'm not a luddite, but I really don't like much of the digital art I see.
Given all that, I did decide to buy this because I do color work on the computer. As I am not a professional I was never going to spend the money required for a Wacom Cintiq! This device meets all of my needs at a very affordable price.
I downloaded and installed the drivers for my Windows laptop. Make sure you enable the digitizer configuration tool and go through all of the steps BEFORE you make art. You have to configure the buttons at the top of the screen. I set mine up for Photoshop shortcuts.
The only problems I have had were intermittent black-outs on the screen, and a lack of data for the tablet. I still don't know what the knob and button on the left-side of the tablet are for!
