From the manual, the transmitter can be set to any IP address. It does not state how to change the receiver to look for that IP address. Where is the manual for the receiver, and most importantly the default IP address of the receiver? Does it also have a web gui for settings?

BEST ANSWER: My receiver showed up as 192.168.10.11 - if you plug it into your tv or monitor and remove the transmitter from the network, the receiver will show you its current IP address on the screen. You can enter that IP address in your browser to get to the web gui where you can change the IP address or use DHCP.
The transmitter and receiver use broadcast packets to find each other, so they don't need to know each others' IP addresses ahead of time.

By trial and error I discovered that the default IP address for the receiver is 192.168.10.11. You can configure the receiver via it's web page however the only option related to receiving video is selecting either UDP Unicast or UDP Multicast streams. I've added more details about using multiple transmitters / receivers on the same network in my answer to the next question below.

Thanks for that! I get that they automatically will use broadcast packets; in the receiver web interface, but can you manually point it to a specific transmitter? Or another version of the same question, how does it behave if you have 2 transmitters on the same network?

What's the bandwidth limit for transmission on this? Could you run 3 - 1080p camera feeds over it without lag?

BEST ANSWER: You would need three separate networks or VLANs to run multiple systems with different sources, but bandwidth is only about 5M for a 1080p stream, so you could easily handle many streams on a 1G network.

Also of note, there is encoder lag of somewhere around .25-.5 seconds. If you need no lag like in a video broadcast ingest, best to use HDbaseT.

Can they work through a router? Assume the bandwidth between networks is 1G or higher. How do you program the receiver to find the transmitter?

Is it possible to have multiple transmitters going to unique receivers thru the same network switch? If so, how are the TX/RX streams configured to ensure the 1:1 relationship between the transmitter and the receiver? Is this done thru specifying the IP address of each?

BEST ANSWER: I was able to get two different transmitters sending their respective video to two different receivers however there is no way to configure this. When I connect both sets of TX / RX pairs, the receivers initially picked up the same UDP stream from one of the transmitters. I disconnected the ethernet connection from one receiver and after plugging it back in, it found the second transmitters stream. It appears this is replicable however it would be MUCH better if a future firmware update allowed the receivers to be configured to pick a specific UDP stream. I also noticed that while the TX / RX units are hard coded for 192.168.10.x, they automatically switch to DHCP when plugged into the network. My network is 192.168.1.x and the TX/RX pair automatically find each other and start streaming automatically. I have no idea how this happens but may take a Wireshark trace to find out.

What is the video/audio latency?

BEST ANSWER: We used it to extend the same source over 2 buildings going through the plants network and it worked fine, however we did not have the original signal next to the "extended" one to notice any lag or latency, i can say that the source is a pc that goes to an Hdmi splitter and one of the outputs is going to this Hdmi over IP device, and on the other side the output of the receiver is going directly to another splitter to carry the signal to 3 TV sets...

Can this be updated to pass HDR10? 1080p60 with HDR would be an amazing feature for IP streaming

Just purchased the blackbird H.265. Nice device. How can I set the rtsp URL to something other than the default? Default setting is rtsp://192.168.10.10/live/main/av_stream - would like to change this to something like rtsp://192.168.10.10/live/main/stream1 or even better rtsp://192.168.10.10/stream1
Also wondering if there is a way to gain more granular access to the stream settings?

Does this system work in conjunction with a layer 2 network? Example: home network using a switch to connect a PC and the transceiver to a wall jack to the router and receiver

I'm not getting sound on HD but getting it on SD. I'm using Dish 722 HDMI into Onkyo TR838 then into the Blackbird. I'm using VLC on a seperate TV and only receive sound when tuning Dish to SD channel, but when HD selected, sound disappears. Any Ideas?

We have one transmitter and 2 receivers running two projectors. They are on their own dedicated gig switch. One and sometimes both screens go black and come back on after 2-3secs. Cables are cat5e. Any ideas? Help!

Excellent gear!
These work great! I use them for video over IP for live stream, taking HDMI out of DSLRs and running them to temporary control rooms. They?re simple to use and the advanced features are numerous. I was a little skeptical at first but they arrived and I quickly found I had no reason to be. They?re built solid and work like a charm!

Great video, no luck with audio
The video looked great. I really liked that they gave the info on the manual to watch the encoded stream using VLC as well as using the hardware decoder. I found the audio to work in only half of the use cases I tested. A single bit rate for 2 channel PCM audio was just too limiting for me and would not work with audio our Blackmagic production video switcher. Monoprice customer service is allowing me to return this model and purchase a different one that supports more audio options.

Better than Expected
This thing is amazing. I'm definitely considering buying another one. It's essentially plug & play, even on a standard network-both the transmitter and receiver default to DHCP as expected. I needed to extend an HDMI signal for a remote monitor as a sort of KVM solution (the mouse & keyboard is controlled via software). The image quality is great. The h.265 setting keeps bandwidth down on the network. I get much better performance compared to our VNC solution. I do have the encoder & decoder on their own VLAN to mitigate traffic saturation on the network. One thing I did do is login to the decoder (the receiver) and switch it from UDP Multicast to UDP Unicast. The multicast setting was flooding the network and causing some trouble accessing other devices. Since my use case is a single monitor extension, multicast is not necessary. Performance is great over the network, I notice very little lag when using the Encoder & Decoder pair. VLC has some lag (due to VLC's default cache setting). UPD Unicast is working fantastic.

Great if your equipment supports it
It worked great on VLC and all but one of my TV's. The older Plasma TV gave a blocky/discolored image or black. For every TV it did work on, setup was just plug-and-play. VLC does introduce some delay that the included receiver does not. Does work fine over existing network (with compatible TV)

This is amazing
This thing is amazing, we where able to send an HDMI signal to a different building in our campus over the network... you simply plug it to a network switch and do the same on the other side and the audio and video go through the network, your data network.
