BEST ANSWER: Thank you for your question.
It can but I would keep in mind that it would only scale which means that if for some reason the TV does not have a scaler built into it this would then make the screen the proper size for a 4k monitor.

BEST ANSWER: This switch sends the audio signal and video signal together through the HDMI output, if that's what your question is. I've bought several HDMI switches and this is the first one that really works all the time.

does this unit come with rack ears?

BEST ANSWER: No. In fact, it appears to be a 1U form factor, but it is not. The overall width is roughly 10.25in (or 26cm). However, if you (or a friend) has a 3D printer, thing:4931737 has been working well for me as a rack-mount solution.

Will this switch allow devices to turn on a connected TV via CEC? The manual isn't clear on this point.

BEST ANSWER: Yes. This switch is HDMI compliant and passes CEC signals from the selected control device (e.g. A/V receiver on channel 1) to the TV.

"It includes the ability to de-embed the audio stream from the output stream and convert it for output on the digital optical S/PDIF and balanced stereo analog outputs."
does this mean it could take the LPCM 5.1 audio from a Nintendo Switch on the HDMI input and convert it to Dolby Digital on the S/PDIF output?

Is there a way to turn on CEC? All of my devices work with my TV remote when plugged in directly to the TV. When running through the switch it blocks them. Also none of the switch's remote commands work do anything except TV on/off (yes, I added the battery).

Most of the time it works great, but sometimes it glitches pretty hard, screen goes blank audio cuts out and it takes approx 30sec-1min to recover. Im running two sources(one at a time) at 4:2:2 with Dolby Atmos. Im using HDMI ARC. All cables are high speed. Happens with both devices. Sometimes it doesnt want to recognize and pass through Atmos.

Does a great job, but can't use the remote out of the box
Great product, handles my various video sources with ease, easy to set up and looks sleek/simple. Only disappointing thing is the remote didn't come with the necessary button-type battery, and its unclear exactly which type it uses, so you can't actually use the remote out of the box
