BEST ANSWER: The housing is made of plastic. It's has a textured finish, and is 3mm thick at the mounting tabs.

How do you switch between speaker zones? I don’t see any switches—just connector blocks.

BEST ANSWER: You can't switch between zones. The amplifier input feeds all of the left channels simultaneously, and all of the right channels simultaneously.

BEST ANSWER: I would not use these but instead use standard simple terminal blocks that could be found at most electrical supply. I do not see any on Monoprice site.

BEST ANSWER: I have mine in an outdoor weatherproof box. I wouldn’t suggest having it or the connected wires exposed to the elements without a box.

This doesn't seem large enough for impedance matching. I am wiring 6 locations off zone2 of a Denon amplifier. Each location already has a wall-mount volume control. Would this work to allow multiple rooms to play off the Zone2 channels without damaging the receiver? Or, should I stick to a 6-zone selector switch with independent volume controls, even if I'd leave them on full-volume all the time?

Does this distribution hub provide a series or parallel wiring setup for the speakers connected to it. For example, would wiring two sets of 8Ω speakers to two zones result in a total of 16Ω (series) or 4Ω (parallel) delivered to the amp?

I'm trying to understand what kind of amp this can be used with. There was a question about whether this is wired for parallel or series, but that was never answered. Can we get a clarification on that? I bought one and from looking at the circuit board it seems like it's both. Seems like it's 4 parallel branches with 2 series on each one. Is that correct?

Total of 6 speakers and subwoofer and wiring was a mess. Wires twist capped together going into amp.... It is small and takes some thought and finger dexterity but works like a charm and looks impressive when you show your friends. :-)

Unit is fine. My speaker wire is too large a gauge to fit. So does not work for my application.

It looked just like I expected as I had previously had one in another home. I do not use it for speakers but a a way to change several connections at once by changing the input connector in a central location.
It works great for this purpose. i Would buy this connection device again if I had another application that required changing the input to several devices from a central location.

Monoprice 8 Zone Single Input Speaker Distribution Hub
They work like champs. Cleans up the wires and saves a tone of wire. You just run two wires to each room, and then they branch off to 8 speakers. Much better than pig tailing or running up to 16 separate wires for each room.
