On the rear of the device, it states balanced XLR in, in the "full Specs" it states unbalanced XLR. Which is correct?

Strangely, both are correct.. It has dual balanced xlr inputs on the analog side in addition to an AES3 xlr on the digital input that can be either balanced or unbalanced depending on the source used to this DAC/amp. Which still sounds confusing.. If you're running balanced xlrs from the previous source in your chain, this amp will receive fully balanced. And it sounds pretty darned good 👍🏻

Can someone explain to me what switching between DAC filters 'Normal', 'Slow 1', and 'Slow 2' does to audio (specifically balanced headphone use with USB and Optical)? In addition, what does switching between ADC Filters 'Normal' and 'Slow' effect and do to the audio? Thank you!

Its an amazing piece of gear, competes well against Sennheiser HDVD800 and RME ADI2 DAC FS.
This was a steal at $499.99 when it first came out.
I absolutely love the 5 band user definable parametric EQ.
The DIRAC ii is hit and miss with a lot of music, but has consistent synergy with symphonic performance hall music.
When EQ'd to be totally flat, it was indistinguishable from my Sennheiser HDVD 800 DAC/AMP when playing FLAC files.
Its worth it just for the features and performance of the DAC section alone.
Drives my 24 ohm to 300 ohm headphones equally well. Planar magnetic or dynamic headphones ? No problem!
I use this with Audeze LCD-2, XC, MX4, &4.
Also, Sennheiser HD 6XX, 700, 800S.
FLAWLESS performance.
The UI is a LOT easier to navigate than my RME ADI2 DAC FS, and offers some of the most commonly used basic features of the RME.
I actually prefer the sound of this over my RME.
I found an AMAZING synergy between this, with DIRAC II , a higher end tube amp( with that holographic tubey sound) and Sennheiser HD800S.
My only complaint, and i honestly believe it could dominate the $500-$1000 market if it had this, would be for it to have a very functional remote, and APTXHD and LDAC BT connectivity.

Not bad for my first dac/amp!
Cant truly compare this dac/amp to anything as it is the unit I chose to enter the audiophile world. All I can tell is I really love it when paired with the 6XXs. The sound is crisp and I can really dig the instrument separation and soundstage!
I need to understand better the EQ options though... it requires some patience
