Headphone amplifier with good power.
Item was like new, totally satisfied with the order. This is a fully discrete amp which is supposed to sound more "musical" than opamp design. This amp has sufficient power to drive any headphones. Can't be beat at this price point.

Response from Monoprice
I'm so glad to hear that you're happy with your purchase. I'm especially impressed that you found it to be in like-new condition, even though it was an open-box item. And the fact that it's a fully discrete amp with enough power to drive any headphones is amazing. I can see why you're so satisfied with it!

Great turntable headphone amplifier
I was looking for a small headphone amp for my turntables pre-amp to connect into. This is perfect. It is very well made, simple input/output. I really like the gain setting. Overall, it just sounds really nice.

A Bargain by Anyone's Definition
I received my Sparky only a couple weeks ago, so my thoughts are based on first impressions. Mine is an open-box product, but appears new in every respect. All the components were cleanly wrapped in fresh packaging, including the power supply, user pamphlet, and amp itself. Couldn't find a smudge or scratch anywhere, and everything was intact. I have a forty year old ARC SP-6 preamp which does not have a headphone input, and wanted to use an equally vintaged Thorens turntable in a small space, so after researching a modest and simple means to do so, settled on this little guy. Initial hookup was easy, and after using it briefly, find It does the job quite well. As others have noted, it does get rather warm, but not to a concerning degree. The volume knob is silky smooth, and the other buttons have a nice click when engaged. The safety relay upon starting is a thoughtful touch and inspires confidence in the quality of the product. Using Pioneer and Sony headphones of 60 ohm resistance, there is plenty of volume -- not necessary to move control beyond 12 o'clock. I like the sound and think I can discern a smoother more rounded balance after 20-30 hours of listening, which is a good thing. For the price, I am impressed and hope it continues to become the right choice for my needs. I agree with others that it is a worthy contender in a crowded space of headphone amps. You would be hard-pressed to find a better value for something that performs this well.
