This cable looks great. Does the one USB cover both keyboard and mouse? How compatible is that across various platforms (e.g. Mac, Win10, Ubuntu, Raspberry Pi, etc.)?

BEST ANSWER: It will cover whatever your KVM will send over USB. So if you have a switch with KB/M and a peripheral USB port, all of it will be available to the connected computers over the cable. How each OS handles things is dependent on the connected devices and driver availability within each OS. Windows and Mac have no problem with my connected flash through usb hub connected to the peripheral port on my KVM and Mac had no issues with my Corsair Keyboard and Logitech mouse. Can't comment on Linux, but things should work with at least basic functionality for KB/M, can't say what happens with other devices.

It covers both the keyboard and mouse with the Blackbird 4k UHD HDMI KVM switch I am using it with. I don't see any reason it would not work across various platforms. The thing to be aware of is that one side of the USB part of the cable is a type B plug. Just something to be aware of. In my case is used one of Monoprice's USB type B to USB type A adapters since I had to connect to type A ports on both ends.

Works great for me on Mac and PC. It saves a lot of space not having the additional cable for the USB, so I love the design. I’m pretty sure they just run the USB wires in the same casing, and separate on the ends, so they should function completes like separate cables do. I highly recommend these.

Yes, one cable works for both keyboard and mouse (at least for me). I've used this (without trouble) with Ubuntu, Raspberry Pi, and Chrome OS. I'd imagine all the other OS variants would work fine, too...

How long is the cable separaring separating the USB-B from the HDMI? I intend to use these as a one-cable solution for connecting to interactive displays, but my HDMI and USB-B ports are 3" apart

BEST ANSWER: Connector to Connector the cable is about 8 inches long. A 3 inch spacing won't be a problem.

Host Side USB too Short

The reason I am giving 4 stars instead of 5 is the USB portion of the cable on the host side is too short for (probably most) tower type systems. USB cable side needs to be about another 4 inches or to be safe about 12" from the HDMI connector on the host side. I had to purchase a 12" USB cable to allow the connection on my tower system due to the distance between the Video card and the USB cable on the motherboard. I suppose it was an easy fix however I had to purchase an additional cable to get it to work properly.
