When all the way back is it centered when collapsed?
Tom I
on Aug 3, 2020
BEST ANSWER: Hi, there is a diagram on the product page with measurements. the first section is 3.9", while the gas-spring arm will stick out from 6.7" (at the top height) - 7.9" (at level height). Folding flat would off-set the monitor around 2.8" to the side of the mounting position center.

Don't know what you mean. Have mine mounted on wall to right of book case. Unit extended all the way out but monitor stays at same height which is what I wanted. When collapsed moniter is offset because arm at wall is shorter then arm to monitor.

It folds flat against the wall, allowing for the thickness of the monitor and the bracket of the monitor mount. For me, that is about 3 inches against the wall.

Yes. It has three pivot points. You have to mount this upright though. I thought I could mount this side ways but the weight of the monitor won’t allow that.

Not exactly, it comes very close to the wall 3 to 4 inches. Be careful not to invert the arm or it will not hold the monitor’s weight

Not exactly flush. There's about 4.5-5" of space between the wall and the rear of the monitor.

Does this work with curved monitors?
A shopper
on Jun 27, 2020
BEST ANSWER: Yes, just make certain you have standard mounting holes, the one monitor we mounted required an adapter plate that came with the monitor not the mount. Also recommend toggle bolts in dry wall if you can not screw into a stud. We mounted two wide screen monitors, one vertical and then a curved one horizontal next to it using two of the Monoprice gas spring mounts. Movement of the monitor popped out the plastic anchors that we used for one of the monitors.

As long as the monitor has a mounting receiver, yes.
I needed to lower the height of install on mine, because the mounting location was at the base of the rear, instead of rear-center.

As long as you’re going into wood backing or catching a toggle bolt in a stud, you should be fine.Certain toggles are rated for 50lbs per toggler,so if you’re using multiple you’ll be more than fine.

This mount has an industry standard VESA pattern. As with all Apple products, you are required to purchase an adapter to be compatible with otherwise industry standard features.

Is the 15.4 lbs weight limit strict? My monitor is 15.8 and I am not seeing many other gas springs that can support that.
Seth R
on Apr 3, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Hi, I recommend not risking the small difference with these gas spring mounts since the extra weight could affect the convenience of using these fully adjustable mounts. These mounts don't physically lock in place and instead rely on the gas spring for the counterbalance force, so exceeding the recommended weight might make it a bit finicky to adjust and use.
I would recommend using one of our gas spring TV wall mounts instead. You can check out the following products to see which one would best fit your needs, your monitor weight and VESA pattern should be covered by these: 16125, 21909, 21908. Thanks for checking.

I have a desk-wall bed unit with dual monitors, each affixed to a rigid mount. When the pins locking the bed are retracted, I can pull the bed platform down 90 degrees, and the monitors remain in place. Does the Adjustable Gas Spring arm have a mechanism which can 'lock' the arm to a specific distance from its mounting fixture, or should I plan on their movement?
New User U
on Jul 31, 2020
BEST ANSWER: Hi, this mount does not have a lock. It uses a gas spring that provides a counter-force to suspend the monitor at the position you set it. This mount is designed more for easy adjustments and not really meant to provide a locked position. Thanks for checking.

BEST ANSWER: Hi, it depends on how extended you plan to use the mount. There is a diagram with measurements on the product page that should give you a better idea. But if you mean you need the mount to only be 6.25" in depth from the wall, this mount could work if the arms are folded. But you won't be able to maximize the range of motion that this mount provides. Thanks for checking.

A great featured design that needs one improvement to reach a 5 star review
Very good product. The articulation works as advertised and I enjoy the features of this product as a wall mountable device. A better locking lug design for the pivotal attachment device that attaches the back of the monitor's to the spring loaded arm is needed. The amount of torque pressure needed to lockin the desired monitor position at the locking lug was very difficult to manage.

Poor vertical tilt
Just echoing another reviewer: vertical tilt is problematic and attempting to fix it may result in the clamp failing in tension which happened to me. I used a laptop shelf which may have put more torque than a monitor mount. Lasted about three months before it started sagging.

Solid Mount, Terrible Vertical Tilt
Used two of these arms for wall mounted monitors in a home office setup. Worked great with smaller 24" monitors but a recent upgrade to 28" monitors revealed problems maintaining vertical tilt. These monitors were well within the weight specifications for these arms and the gas shocks had no problems holding them up, but the vertical tilt adjustments couldn't keep the monitors level. Unfortunately attempts to tighten the vertical tilt to hold the monitor resulted in the vertical tilt clamp breaking, rendering the arm useless. Will be looking elsewhere for monitor arms.

This is great. I mounted it to my workbench so that I can keep the work area clear while still being able to pull up digital references on my raspberry pi (YouTube, pdfs, internet tutorials). After adjusting the piston, I can move the monitor with ease.
