BEST ANSWER: No, on the top side of the tape measure you have inches and centimeters. You can extend the tape a nice distance.

How wide is the tape??
JOHN G
on Dec 15, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I just received 2 of these tapes, and although asking specifically how wide the blade was, and given misinformation, the tape is 7/8 of an inch. The 22.25 mm or 0.875 is correct, but it is definitely not 1.25 inches. I have skinny tapes and wanted a fat tape that would not droop over a good distance.

What is the flappy bit of rubber under the metal hook with the magnets? I just received the measuring tape, and have never seen a rubberized metal hook on a tape measure... what mystified me is the little flappy rubber piece on the bottom of the metal hook. It looks like it wants to fall off so I thought it was some kind of flashing left from the production process, but it's in the product pictures too... so... not sure on that one. Anyone have any ideas?

I have used lot's of tape measures over the years. Some people may not know, the hook on the tape is meant to move to compensate for the pushing vs. pulling distance of the tape measure. Sometimes you push the tape and sometimes you pull the tape against something to measure. This difference must be made up in your calculations. Otherwise you would have only pushing tapes, or pulling tapes. Every one I have seen work in both directions. I say this because, the hook travels further than many other tapes I own, due to the rubber on the hook. It is thicker than normal. The hook must travel a longer distance to compensate. But, this little extra rubber piece in question is attached like a HINGE and flips up and down. It appears to have a purpose, but could be a defect in the mold or manufacturing process. I cannot for the life of me decide what it is for. If you remove it, I would suggest cutting it and not tearing it off. Tearing may cause damage. Let me know if you figure it out.

Does the tape measure indicate Studs every 1 inches? Any I buy do so, by marking every 16 inches with red numbers, or labeling in small letters, "stud".

BEST ANSWER: Thank you for your question.
Since we are just a reseller for this device we would be limited to the information on the product page so we are not be certain if there are any marking on the tape at the 16 inch mark.
You would want to contact Tacklife directly for that information.

I believe you are asking if it has a stud mark every 16" not every 1", the answer from looking at mine is YES. But, it's not impressive. The marking is red but not a bold color and only slightly oversized. If you were to be marking 16" every day on a house framing project, you would definitely want a contractor tape.

Good, but not great.
It's hard to see in the pictures, but the foot has a rubber flippy grabby thing on it.
The good:
It's really useful to help grip surfaces for single-person measuring.
The bad:
It often flips under the foot, causing the measurement to be off by the thickness of the rubber flippy thing.
Other than that, the build quality is nice and the magnets on the foot are definitely helpful.

Good Tool
Wasn't expecting much at this price, but this is actually a decent tape measure. It may not be up there with the top brands, but I will definitely be adding it to my toolbox.

Good value
They appear to be of high quality - good materials, good retraction. The numbers are large, easy to read. The tape color is a more muted shade of yellow - not the customary high-vis yellow or white. Granted, Monoprice’s audience (and builders/assembly Co.) are not all US, so the use metric and SAE is understandable. However, some measuring scenarios have only the metric side available on that side, which makes it harder to read and transfer in those cases.

This Measures Up
Great tape measure that includes inches and millimeters. The magnet tip has been handy but mostly for picking up dropped screws.
