BEST ANSWER: It has an all metal housing. It is flat and smooth but If you are worried about fine wood flooring you should probably get one with a plastic housing.

Although it is smooth,, it could scratch a wood floor. I would recommend some felt or rubber feet to take the chance away

I wall mounted mine. If it's going to be on a wood floor, I would put either rubber or felt pads on the bottom.

Yes, the bottom surface is smooth - all screws are countersunk and the edges are not sharp.

Solid little box
Exactly what I needed. Looks and feels high-quality and should definitely stand up to the beating I will inevitably put it through.

Sturdy steel and quality outlets nicely spaced.
Nice sturdy steel outlet box. Quality jacks that are nicely spaced, no crowding from wide plugs or power supplies. Good quality lighted switch. Great price, fast shipping. Total Win!

Metal is the way to go!
I've had plastic outlet boxes that melted, smoked, flamed! I'm sticking with metal!

All You Really Need
Had a Monster Cable HTS3600 power center for about 14 years and felt its efficacy had run its course. Surge protectors do get old after a time. It was long in the tooth and I got tired of looking at it. Plus, after much reading and listening, I have come to doubt this whole “clean power” charade anyway. After looking at all kinds of power units, I was about to pull the trigger on a Furman unit that looks suspiciously like this. But, I thought I should check out Monoprice first. Glad I did because comparing pictures, outside the label, this looks EXACTLY like it! Anyway, after plugging everything in, it all sounds the same to me. Just having some protection and basic filtering from RFI/EMI is all you need.

Lets me build TR power strip
I have small kids, and have been looking all over for a power strip that has Tamper Resistant (TR) outlets, but for whatever reason they don't exist... I bought this, and 3x black TR receptacles (R55-T5320-00E) from big box store, and made my own. Had to hacksaw the "ears" off of those 3 and run new ground wire, but otherwise could reuse everything from this strip, no soldering required.

3 new outlets installed, originals beside it.

Same as the Name Brand!
We noticed these are identical to a major brand of Power Conditioners in the US. These are built really solidly, and do exactly what they say they do.

Great buy
Monoprice has "almost" cloned the Furman power strip that's double the price. The only thing keeping this from 4 stars is the power cord length. Increase it to 12 or 15' and this would be a perfect product.
