Do both sections raise and lower?

BEST ANSWER: Yes. In order for the height adjustment to function, all 3 motors must be connected to the controller hub. Therefore both sections of this desk will raise and lower at the same time

Could this be used with three desktop pieces? Two equal side pieces and a separate curved corner piece?
Victoria S
on Aug 31, 2021
BEST ANSWER: You would need to build your own support structure to anchor the curved piece to the side pieces. It comes with two square metal plates meant to reinforce the short left piece with the longer right piece. The third corner piece you’re asking about would rely on the two side pieces for any sort of left/right support. It would be anchored to the corner leg motor by four screws and I could see them getting stripped without proper secondary support.

You could make this work if the size is within the min and max sizes of the desk. Look at the installation instructions. The three legs are connected via square tubes that slide inside of each other to accommodate larger and smaller tops. The top screws to the frame at the L brackets that bolt to the side of each leg. You will need mending plates or some method of attaching the 3 pieces of top together.

There are a limited number of screw holes on the frame for securing the desk surfaces, so I would not suggest that. I wouldn't be confident that there are enough screw holes in correct places for another seam in the surfaces. I wouldn't want the surface to pull away from the screws and everything on top flip off and be smashed.

Yes I believe so as they are extendable on both sides. It is a matter of seeing what is the full extended length on both sides and doing the math to accommodate all 3 pieces. It is doable.

Depends on the depth.
As long as both are deeper than 24" this should work , although the base will support bigger and the 4' side will be really close to the brackets. Kind of depends if you 4' table is 47, 48, 49 inches, etc.
I build a custom 6'x6' top from a sheet of plywood I had, ebonized it with India Ink and lacquered for mine and it turned out very nice. Mine is essentially made from a 6'x2' butted against a 4'x2' section and it fits very well.

Yes you can but it will be pretty tight. Both table lengths are adjustable but you're going to be right on the edge of the shortest adjustment. Brackets mounted right on the edges of the table top with no overhang. I used one 4ft and one 6ft to get an equal workspace on both lengths. Two 4ft tops will give you a workspace with one 4ft length and one 2ft length making an L.

The desk specs a maximum lift weight of 265lbs. I would suggest weighing the slab you're planning to use and consider that anything else you add like computers, monitors, TVs, and coffee are also going to contribute to that weight limit.

Can the frame be modified to support shallower desktops? I'd like to use my existing desktop which is 50cm (19.7") deep. The arms where the desktop is mounted are 23.6" deep. Will the stability be compromised if you shorten the arms by sawing off one of the mounting screw holes on each arm?

BEST ANSWER: You would have to cut the metal extensions, I have a 22" width on one side and I had to cut the arm with a sawzall. You can cut it and still have space for one screw to hold the side in place.

Stability will not be compromised at all. I had so do the same down one side. If needed you can drill an additional hole in the remaining part of the arm yourself to add another screw. Should be just fine.

Yes can be modified. If you shorten the arms to the depth of the desk equally and re drill mounting holes there shouldn’t be any compromise in stability. Cutting off one side may cause an imbalance.

Monoprice Sit-Stand Dual-Motor Height Adjustable Table Desk Frame, Electric, White
BEST ANSWER: I have the 3 leg version and the motor starts slowly, goes a set slow speed and finishes off slowly at about the last inch towards final height. Only thing to consider is it has no safety stop in case of an office chair with arms shoved under while elevated and adjusting downwards. I had this happen once. Otherwise I am pleased with performance. It is quiet and has worked perfectly for the past year as I work remote and use daily.

I have the 3 leg and its the best ergonomic purchase I've ever made. The motors seem pretty chill - I don't know if they actually ramp up in speed, but it's not like you're going to accidentally floor it into your knees or something. It also has a presets which are really convenient for consistently taking it to your preferred sitting and standing heights.

What are the measurements of the three perpendicular supports above each leg?
New User U
on Jul 12, 2022
BEST ANSWER: Depends on how extended they are, but roughly 24" all the way down, but add 1 1/2" for the foot and another 1 1/2" for the horizontal piece attached to the desktop. So about 27" all the way down. Might be slightly lower as my boss has the desk and he has a filing cabinet in the way. With the legs extended all the way, you're looking at about 48" for the legs, plus the 3" for the other two pieces mentioned above, which puts it at about 51" high. Hope that helps!
P.S. For those that might want metric, think 129.5 cm up and 68.5 all the way down.

on Nov 27, 2022
BEST ANSWER: Yes, I believe it would. I used it with miss matched top sizes (pretty close to your sizes) and it worked perfectly. Make sure the two tops are mounted to each other (commonly done with floating cubicle desktops) underneath, and ensure the total outside measurements of each side don’t exceed the max width of each side of the adjustable legs. Also, note to ensure each leg is exactly plum/perpendicular when assembling. Motor will be super quiet and smooth!

Can I use 2 6ft tabletops or does it have to be 4ft and 6ft combination? I'm trying maximize the surface area.
A shopper
on Nov 21, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Hi, if using the Monoprice desktops directly, we recommend using the 4ft + 6ft combination to ensure that the desktops will be supported by the frame while avoiding unsupported overhangs. Using 2 of our 6ft desktops directly is not recommended because one side will end up too long beyond the frame, even at full extension.
It is possible to use bigger desktops, but it is important to check it the desktops might need to be reinforced or if they are made from material that could tolerate overhangs without affecting long term shape and durability. Hope this helps. Thanks.

You can, just know that one leg will become 90” long when you form the L shape. While the frame will support a 90” leg, I chose to cut 30” from one 60” x 30” piece to accommodate my office space giving me an L that is 60” x 60”. I am interested in this to build my own custom top with cable management grommets built in and cable management bays also, so I only have 1 power cable and the line for my sub on the floor. If I made the dimensions of the top 2"Hx4'Lx30"W and 2"Hx6'Lx30"W with the supports centered in the mass of the tops would it be stable with the extra over hang? I plan to route out slots in the top for the supports to actually slid into and then secure it. Plan to make it out of edge jointed hardwoods, so I am not super worried about the material bowing, more the desk falling over.

BEST ANSWER: Last month, I made a desktop out of MDF that is nearly the same dimensions (+/-1 inch) and the desk is totally stable. With that said, I used 3/4 inch MDF. A 2" thick desktop seems somewhat excessive to me, particularly if it's made out of hardwood. My desktop is in the 60-75 lb range, I am not sure how that compares to 2" thick hardwood. why design the desk so thick? 1" should be more than enough, and you can always put a 2" thick band around the edges if you prefer the look of a 2" thickness. Just a thought.

My desktop is in the 60-75 lb range, I am not sure how that compares to 2" thick hardwood. why design the desk so thick? 1" should be more than enough, and you can always put a 2" thick band around the edges if you prefer the look of a 2" thickness. Just a thought.

I find the stand to be very sturdy. I don't see any issue with the dimensions you have. The overhang is not a problem.
If I understand your description correctly you are going to make the top out of 2 inch thick hardwood?
If that is the case, I would recommend you look at the listed weight limit and match that with the weight of the wood you are using.
Have fun. I really enjoy using the custom top I built for my corner desk. It was easy to assemble and ais a joy to use.

It shouldn’t be a problem. The legs are very stable. I just screwed the frame directly into the top and it’s very sturdy. You don’t even need to route out the slots if you don’t want to.

Would I be able to use a 72”x30”, and 60”x30” set as table tops for this L-Shaped desk? Also, what is the weight limit on this? Can I use a triple monitor setup after having a wooden tabletop?

BEST ANSWER: The short answer is yes- if you look on the product page you can see the min lengths are 55 inches and the max extension is 71. You can run over that 71 inches- you're really only bound by the strength of your top (and what you may put on that unsupported end.
Lift max is 265 pounds (on product full spec tab).
The 3 motors are not located w/in the legs- they're units you mount on your top. So yes- you can use the motors w/ a wooden top (or any other top you choose). I found it best to mount them in between the extension rails and roughly where each leg was (left/center/right). Important to know they need to be mounted on the top though- there's a sensor in there that determines how low the unit can move.

The 72x30” should fit without issue, but I would expect some overhang with the 60x30” piece.
Weight limit is advertised as 265 lbs; this should be sufficient for your described setup.
For reference, I have a wooden table top with two ultrawide monitors & articulating mounts, which comes out to just under 165 pounds in total. The motors are more than sufficient to raise and lower my setup without issue.

The weight limit is 265lbs. I've had multiple 30" 4k monitors and a couple heavy Mac Pro Towers on mine with no issue. Even using a large wood tabletop. You should be fine with those size table tops. I used 24" deep tops, but 30 should still work. How thick is your wood/what does it weigh? The triple monitor setup plus random accessories can't be more than ~65lbs, leaving 200 for the wood easily.

BEST ANSWER: This would be a bad idea. The controller would definitely work, but there are many cheaper straight table bases you could use. And the way the legs work, one side of your straight table would be very unstable.

Yes, both parts of the frame are adjustable.
No, 47"x47" wouldn't be enough because the minimal dimensions of the frame even without a tabletop are 48.8"x55.1".

My legs turned out to be wider than my desk so there is a big gap btw desk and wall. Basically make sure your top is wider than the legs if u want it flush with your wall. Also keep in mind there is a weight capacity.

The controller that comes with the desk doesn't match the manual anymore. Looking at another manual that matches the updated menus: E60 - Out-of-step protection
Check and ensure the motors of each leg are at an identical height and their
connection to the controller is correct as per the Assembly Instructions, then power
the desk off and on again or follow the Stroke Reset Process.

BEST ANSWER: Hi, this combination is possible. You will just have a longer overhang on one side of the 5ft desktop than if you were using a 4ft top. This is still OK, just avoid excessive loads on the overhang for long-term durability and to prevent sagging over time. Thanks for checking.

Thank you. One more question. Why do the instructions show the 6ft table being installed on the right side such that it is not equally supported (the middle arm is 90 degrees to the end arm. It would seem that the 6ft panel should go on the left side as you stand in the "v" shape so the top is equally supported on the arms that are set at parallel to each other, giving better support for the smaller top via the mating plates.
Hi, thanks for bringing this up. You are correct, that orientation is probably not the most optimal way to mount the desktop, switching the tops to provide more support for the longer top would be better. We'll update the manual to reflect it. Having said that, the tops would still be supported sufficiently by the length of the frame and the mounting plates. Thanks for the feedback.

Quality construction/Customizable
After 30 days of use, the quality and construction appears excellent. I did major modifications to fit an existing desk. The sturdy construction allowed the changes to fit seamlessly into the exist desk design.

Triple?Motor Height?Adjustable Sit?Stand L?Shaped Corner Desk Frame
Have had the frame for several weeks now and it was very easy to assemble and attach my own desktop to. It works very well and I am very happy with it.

Stand-up-sit-down desk
The desk stand works well as expected.
The single post leg however differs from another electric desk I own in a small annoying way. The post on this desk is centered under the desk where my other desk the post is aligned with the edge of the desk making better use of the space under the desk that this version.

Excellent quality at a great price
I was very pleased to see how this frame arrived at my office. It was packaged extremely well to protect all pieces. Assembly was extremely easy. I had a 1" thick desktop that I attached to the frame. I was very pleased to find how heavy duty and sturdy the desk was. I have a 34" widescreen monitor and laptop on the desk that is extremely stable, even at a standing height. The 4 memory settings are nice and lift operation is super-smooth and quiet. I searched a long time for a frame that would work with my current L-shaped top, and really glad I found this one. I would definitely recommend this one.

Great Value and Great for Tall Guys
I got this not expecting much but It's held up great. I'm 6'5' and it raises up higher than I need! Most standing desk top out and I still have to hunch down or spread my stance to be comfortable but not with this bad boy. There's not a lot of downside with being tall but short desks and small cars are two of them. 10/10 would recommend.

Works great! Extremely sturdy and relatively easy to assemble.
Very sturdy and nicely designed. Easier to assemble with two people, but possible with one. Controls are very easy to operate and the motors are smooth and relatively quiet. I'm using 3 different positions in my daily work and it's been a real game changer so far.
