Is this your highest end Coax? would this be high end enough to connect an ultra high end CD/SACD player to a vacuum tube amp?

BEST ANSWER: IMO, cables are the quickest to hit diminishing returns. Any quality cable (which I feel these are) that isn’t too long would suffice. Given the cost of entry here though, this is a “just buy it” option versus what it sounds like the cost of another cable would be if using the “10% rule”. Fwiw, their speaker cables are deal of the decade.

I believe so. You can definitely buy more expensive cables but this one appears to be pretty substantial Enter an answer to this question.

Is this the proper cable to connect a DAC to a headphone amp? Both components have RCA inputs.
New User U
on Jul 21, 2020
BEST ANSWER: No, this cable would be an input to your DAC from a digital source. The cable you need will depend on your DAC, but it's most likely either a regular RCA stereo pair or a 3.5mm single analog cable.

This is a digital cable. It is to connect the digital output of a Source to a DAC or a receiver/prepro digital input. You need an analog one in the Monolith series.

No, this would be the cable to connect the digital audio to your Dac. A standard audio cable (non-digital) would be best to connect your DAC to the Amp.

Yes this would work. Be aware that this is a single cable . If you want left, right channels (stereo) you will need to buy 2 cables.

Can I use this cable to connect the pre-outs for home theater channels in my receiver to my amplifier?

on Apr 19, 2021
BEST ANSWER: You can use it for an analog signal, but it is designed for a digital connection. You would need a pair of cables (one for left and right channels) and it would be better, I think to buy cables that are marked for left and right; if only to make it easier to install them.

Yes you can, and you will be surprised by the sound quality difference, it’s a noticeable difference. I can’t tell you if this years model is the same as last years, but the ones I got last year were really good and not just because of the low price.

Pre-outs are normally connected with dual RCA cables instead of coaxial cables to amplifiers. With that said though, who's to say coax couldn't be used as long as you purchase two for each pre-out pair.

Depends on what you're connecting - if you are connecting pre-amp outs to amplifier inputs, you would need to use regular RCA connection cords. The digital coax cable is used to connect a digital output from a CD player or maybe a satellite dish to a DAC, which might be a separate unit or an input on your preamp or integrated amp.
I have several stand-alone DACs that have CD players connected to them with a digital coaxial cable and one preamp that has a built-in DAC that requires the coaxial cable connection. You can also use a Toslink optical cable if you have that type of output on your source device, but most people seem to feel the coax connection can give better sound.

Digital cable can also be used to carry analog signals. Don't believe anyone who says otherwise! In fact, in applications where consistently maintained resistance is essential or helpful, a digital cable will often outperform an analog cable because digital cables must maintain a resistance of 75 ohms throughout their length. Cheaper analog cables are seldom manufactured to such a high standard.

Monolith by Monoprice Digital Audio Coaxial Cable, 1m

Monolith by Monoprice 3ft RCA Cable
Either is fine. So long as its rated for Digital Audio, just about any coaxial cable will work. All it does is transmit 1's and 0's. . It will work or it wont. There's no in between.

I know that this cable has been designed for a digital coax connection, but would it also be a good choice for an analog phono cable--i.e., turntable to pre-amp phono inputs? That is, would the capacitance be low enough and the shielding sufficiently robust?

Stout construction, nice look, performs as it should at a modest price: outstanding value!
The digital cables I ordered were constructed "waaay" better than I was expecting. The connections were firm and sure. After placing this cable between my dac and transport, I heard no hint of any negative artifact being generated while playing my music. It did the job it was suppose to do; transfer the signal without adding anything to it, or taking anything from it. Bet!!!

Monolith Coax 1 meter cable
So thick and sturdy yet it?s still malleable and squishy. Hard to imagine an a/v task it wouldn?t be up for. Absolutely beautiful to hold and look at too.

Excellent Digital Cable
This is the best sounding S/PDIF coax cable I have heard - I compared it to 3 others; all of which cost more (~$20-$45). I now have 2 of these Monolith cables - one for my Bluesound Node 2i, and the other for my Audiolab CDT6000 transport. The fact they are well made and sturdy - and they cost less, are icing on the cake, so to speak.

Coax OVER Lifatec toslink
Bought this coax cable on a whim. I've been using a Lifatech 20" toslink cable I spent $100 on to go from my Integra CD player to a new Onkyo 9.2 receiver. I'm going to cut right to the chase, my CDs sound BETTER using this cable over a highly regarded toslink cable. Cymbals crash with more clarity, bass isn't as muddy and frankly, I was floored by this.
I ended up replacing it with my Lifatec glass toslink and yep, I went right back to this coax cable again. Very happy with its performance.

Okay but not my preference.
Auditioned this cable on a digital connection between a Marantz DV9600 and a NAD c368. I replaced a Wireworld Chroma cable. I was surprised in the difference in sound between the two. The Monolith was far more subdued in the upper treble range an rythmically more relaxed. The Chroma had more treble energy and a tighter rythmic structure. I know it sounds like audiofile bs but I went back and forth several times for several weeks. I will keep theonolith for a spare but the Wireworld Chroma is much more to my liking.
