What is the allowable Bend Radius?

BEST ANSWER: When you say allowable that sounds like you want a highly technical response such as for bearing with at such and such turn radius. I don’t have an answer to that but the cable is very slim as you may know already. I would be very comfortable with a half inch turn radius or maybe last evening. I haven't measured for bend radius and continued performance, but have several in a very full cabinet where they make 90-degree turns with about one inch of space behind the jack. The bootless modular plug was a blessing in this tight installation.

How is the sheilding?

BEST ANSWER: UTP = Un-shielded Twisted Pair. These cables have no shielding, like most ethernet cables. The twisted pairs are there to minimize crosstalk. If you need additional shielding, look for STP (shielded twisted pair), but you won't find it in these super slim cables. There just isn't room.

Being this thin, are these cables more susceptible to interference, such as electromagnetic? What are the drawbacks compared to normal thickness cat cable?

BEST ANSWER: Normal thickness cables are also un-shielded, and crosstalk is already countered by the twists in the pairs of wires. There is certainly increased potential for interference due to the increased density that you can run for the cables, but there is not a significantly higher physical susceptibility. Major drawbacks: 1)Don't expect UPOE+ support (lower power phones and such are no issue) 2) Thinner gauge copper is significantly more fragile - kink or roll over the wire with a chair and it will be much more impacted than standard thickness cables 3) There is an increased resistance with the smaller wire. This means the maximum run distance is reduced from the standard 100m. This has little to no impact within the datacenter, but should be recognized for campus or IDF usage - a 90m run to a wall jack with 5m of slim cable on each end is going to be likely over spec

Can you comment about wire strength? Is it just the 8 conductors and sheathing in the cable or is there anything else that would help strengthen the patch cable if I'm trying to gently 'pull' it through conduit?

great cable for tight spaces
without the rear boot these cables fit perfectly in tight spaces where I thougth right angle/90 degree angled cables would be a better fit. They still maintain a gentle bend vs a harsh-bend when I had plugged in behind a solid desk, more space than the 90deg right angle cable did. The RJ45 is seated almost entirely in the port. It performs flawlessly and even thinner profile makes it less obvious out of the wall.

My rack cabinet runs PoE and door wouldnt close with standard cables. This was perfect solution
