Does this speaker wire direction matter? There is nothing on the wire indicating the directions to amps and speakers. THX!

BEST ANSWER: It does not matter! Just cut to length, then attach your chosen connectors, and plug in. Direction doesn't matter at all. But make sure that the polarity is the same on both sides

I have not listened for directionality with this wire. But if it is directional (perhaps due to the direction of draw of the copper through the die), then you should mark the ends distinctly (e.g., triangle and square, to be neutral choices) before cutting into pieces and also mark the ends of each resulting piece (again, triangle and square) to maintain the orientation of the starting piece. Then try them both ways, either with triangle ends at the amp, or squares at the amp, to determine if you sense that one direction is superior.

If you believe that wire direction is important, then this is probably not the wire for you. I do believe that speaker wire does make a difference in the sound of revealing speakers. The cables I made from this wire sounded decent, but I didn't try reversing them to see if I could hear a difference. I don't own any exotic speaker wires to compare them to.

I am confident saying "no". If it did matter, there would be info about this on the website AND with the delivered product. I have not seen anything regarding directionality.

No.
About the only time you will see a recommended direction is with "single crystal" or "drawn" OH NO copper wire.

Because of where my speakers are and how they’re mounted, the manufacturer recommends just twisting the end of multi-strand 12 AWG speaker wire and sticking that into the connector. Given that this cable has all these conductors each with its own insulation, is that going to be possible?

on Jun 10, 2020
BEST ANSWER: To use these cables properly, you need to also strip the solid center wire, otherwise it will not carry the signal. In theory, the different conductors transmit audio signals differently ("skin effect", see wikipedia), but whether this affects the sound is another issue. You connect both the solid and stranded wires at both ends.
I used banana plugs or pin plugs as appropriate but I don't think that is essential, it just helps me get a firm connection to the cable.

Yes, you can do this. I did it without the center conductor (clipped it and it's sheathing short for both red and black sides) and it works just fine. The cable is durable, flexible, and a great deal for what you get.

The main conductor is the only one to worry about insulation removal so that you do not nick the conductor. Once that is accomplished you can twist all the conductors as you require.

You will have to strip back all the insulation for each conductor so all conductors are bare and twisted together.

Whats the gauge of the internal cables? Wanting to know what gauge speaker pants I will need
A shopper
on Jun 23, 2020
BEST ANSWER: The speaker wires are 12G and the overall diameter of the cable is about 10mm.
I used the pant legs from Amazon "Parts Express Cable Pants 10mm 2-Conductor, Black". Please note that the fit is very tight and it will take effort to push the speaker wires through the pant legs. I also use shrink wrap to finish off the outer weave and the overall finish/quality looks very good. My fingers were very sore after finishing 3 sets of cables (6 pant legs) but it was worth the effort. Good luck!

I did the same thing as David L, tight fit, used needle nose pliers to loosen them up, and finished them up with black electrical tape, my shrink wrap was too small, worked really good, and 10mm is the right size. Tight but right.

Can this be used as a 4 conductor cable ?
A shopper
on Feb 7, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Thank you for your question.
These would be a single conductor.
It would not be recommended to use it as 4 conductors because it would be fairly difficult to properly split up the cable 4 ways.

BEST ANSWER: There is a white conductor and a red conductor. Red is positive. The inner conductors should all be stripped and twisted together to form one conductor for red and one for white, and then spades or whatever desired connectors can be easily installed.

Monolith speaker cable #33840
Is this a Litz style cable?
When terminating to a banana style connection should all wires be exposed and terminated as one?
Is 12AWG the total of all wires combined or just the larger solid core center wire?

BEST ANSWER: The man who I spoke with said the center and outer wires should remain separate of one another. But my banana plugs and also my receiver send out and accept only one signal, so, I do not understand how keeping it separated is going to help. It seems it would get blended from the amp and once it reaches the banana plug. To keep separated, I would assume a special type of plug would be necessary and the comments say the wire is compatible with banana plugs. So, while the man told me they were intended to keep separates, I believe it truly will not change the sound because I believe the signal is going to be sent and mingled anyway. Just my 2 cents, definitely I am not a professor about this cable, I just own it and reasoned to myself.

How do you connect this wire to speakers?
A shopper
on Jan 6, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Best I can tell you is there is an inner what looks like a very stiff copper wire in the center of a lot of flimsy, easily movable wires. The inner seems solid and is bent like a solid piece of copper(?). I tried to peel the first layer with 18 gauge to trim the inside wire and then with a 10 gauge to clean the outer jacket from the outer strands of wires. I cannot tell you yet how it sounds (if it will be any improvement over my copper Monster wire). I have not decided yet how I will be rigging my system and to use this wire for bi-amping, which was my original intention. But looking more of what the wire is made for, I think it may be better for center and surround speakers and find something else to bi-amp my mains with. Plus, I do not have yet my good banana plugs.

Same question as many - how to connect since there are four-conductor sets here.
There was a nice video on the band plug page. Would love to see a video (more up close though) using these cables.
What is the purpose of the inner and outer conductors? Why are they isolated?
Now... I have heard that Bass likes to travel on the outside of the wire and Highs on the inside (or did I get that backwards)... anyway... maybe the lower frequencies travel more efficiently on the single conductor and the highs on the multi-strand set. But how do the frequencies know to split this way if they are all tied together at termination anyway???
THANKS!

Quality plus modifications equals performance.
This is the best speaker cables i have owned.i also modified the cables by adding 18 and 20 gauge wires. The ultimate result is beyond believe.i single cable was combined with 18 and 20 gauge wires to form a monster cable for positive terminals and same for negative terminals.I couldnt be happier. Now you can feel the power of your speakers with good amplifier.

Great quality
Great quality speaker wire. I finished them with the Affinity Series 24k Gold Speaker Banana Plug and am very pleased with the end results. They are currently in use connecting my Vienna Haydn bookshelf speakers as my back surround speakers. I wish I would have found out about mono price sooner. The sound is equivalent to $500+ cables that I have used before

Premium quality at a much lower price than competing brands
I was at first hesitant to order this speaker wire because of some reviews that stated it was difficult to work with. When I received the cable and started working with it I found it very easy to work with and easy to use for bi-wiring. The sound quality from my system greatly improved with these cables. These cables provided more detail and punch over other cables I was using. I would highly recommend these cables to anyone looking to improve the sound of their system from ordinary speaker wire.

Beautiful cable. The quality it top notch. A lot of thought went into the design. Some folks complaint about it's difficult to terminate. I have to disagree, you just need the proper tools. This cable sounds better as time goes by. I was able to get four cables from the amount you get.
