It's well built, the zipper is not that big of a problem, and it's waterproof; however, it doesn't retain ice very well. You can get maybe a day of ice retention, but that's it. Also, for some reason, Blue Ice doesn't work well in this cooler. There seems to be a large cold leak on the bottom of the cooler and this is why it doesn't retain ice very well. It might be worth getting on sale, but I would look else where or buy a cheaper alternative.
Well built, everything feels like the typical great Monoprice quality. The zipper is a bit tight but doesn't detract from its use. The reason for the 3 stars is my frozen lunch did not stay frozen today. I used the Rubbermaid Blue ice 2lb cold pack. It was just the same as if I used a cheap 10 dollar lunch cooler bag. So it worked as my food stayed cool for lunch. The issue is for 60 dollars it should keep my food colder and my ice pack frozen than a cheap 8-10 dollar lunch bag. I do like the front pocket, I can fit my car keys, wallet, and a motrin bottle in it so I do not need to carry things in my pockets at work.
Have only used it once since we received it last week. We used it for a picnic. It kept the beers as cold as refrigerated from 930am to 7pm when I took the two last beers out. This is without pre-cooling. The zipper is a little tough to use even after lubrication. Maybe I'll add additional lubrication. My wife actually doesn't mind the tough zipper and appreciates the quality. So do it. It's well constructed. The pocket in the front is perfectly sized for cell phones or wallets.
