the 8K 48Gbps HDMI cable are they HDMI Premium Certified Cables?
A shopper
on Nov 19, 2018
BEST ANSWER: No, the DynamicView HDMI cables are not HDMI Premium Certified Cables nor are they HDMI "certified" anything.
The "HDMI Premium Certified Cable" is HDMI's special designation for "High Speed HDMI" cables aka HDMI 2.0 cables. If and when HDMI comes out with the final Compliance Test Specification (CTS) for HDMI 2.1, I would expect HDMI to come out with a different special designation for HDMI 2.1 certified cables, such as "Ultra" HDMI Premium Certified Cable or HDMI "Ultra" Premium Certified cable, since HDMI's logo designation for HDMI 2.1 cables is "Ultra High Speed" HDMI. HDMI's logo designation for HDMI 2.0 cables is "High Speed" HDMI.

Attn: Manuel H. This question has been hanging unanswered for SIX months now. Since this can only be answered by MONOPRICE's members of technical staff, it is high time to step up and answer it. Look at HDMI Org's "Adopters_Founders" web page and you will see Monoprice listed, however *without* the all-important orange dot with "2.1" inside. Means that Monoprice has not yet provided proof to HDMI Licensing of HDMI 2.1 specification compliance. HDMI 2.1 spec was officially released before Jan 2019 CES. While Monoprice is "working on it", many hundreds of other suppliers, vendors and sellers already have Certified HDMI 2.1 on offer. Monoprice, it is time to execute or lose your loyal, high-net-worth clientele.

The HDMI 2.1 TESTING SPECIFICATION has not yet been released by HDMI LLC. As such, this is why the cable can NOT be listed as an "HDMI 2.1" cable, but can legally state (if true) that is supposedly supports 48Gbps. However, there is no testing equipment anywhere in the world yet made to verify such claim. So YES, they are selling a cable that MIGHT meet the HDMI 2.1 specification - but most likely it will NOT because it is not just about 48Gbps that makes a cable "HDMI 2.1 Certified". It is getting a testing lab (like SIMPLAY) that gives you an ATC testing certificate stating so.

A cable does not have a refresh rate or affect FPS. It just passes the signal from source to destination. Your limitation in rate & FPS will be dependent on the hardware you’re using.

Is this 8K 48Gbps HDMI cable available in longer lengths?

The specification currently does not allow for cables that are longer than 3ft. We are working hard to make a cable that can be longer while still meeting the high performance demands. Thank you for asking.

Hi Adam,
The chipset for meeting HDMI 2.1 specs is still in development and is not yet available. We are working diligently in providing a solution in longer lengths once the technology becomes available. Rest assured though, while there is HDMI 2.1 hardware on the horizon, we are still a long time away before the switch begins to happen. Thanks for asking.

Well this can't be accurate, there are many 4k HDMI 2.1 cables on the market that 6 ft.
This statement is incorrect. The latest CTS for HDMI 2.1 does not specify a cable length. HDMI, "Q: what is the maximum length of this (HDMI 2.1) cable?; A: The specification does not indicate a cable length. Cable length depends on the cable manufacturer. It is likely the maximum lengths for passive cables will be approximately 2 to 3 meters."
In fact, there is no real reason for cables meeting HDMI 2.1 specifications cannot be up to 50' for passive cables. 50' being the widely considered length before signal degradation for passive cables. Remember HDMI 2.1 specification testing is really only two parts (at least for the current iteration of the CTS): high EMI protection and 48Gbps bandwidth.

What kind of differences would someone like myself that is already running a top of the line 4k player , pioneer elite AVR , audio going to an 11.2 channel Klipsch premier series and visual to an LG OLED c series expect to hear or see over our nicely made 18gb HDMI cable ? I think this question may help alot of people wondering the same thing. Thanks.

The difference comes in if you care about getting the best HDR quality, which AFAIK is currently Dolby Vision. Most current high speed HDMI cables are 18Gbps, which support HDR content, however as an LG OLED owner I've found I really only get Dolby Vision reliably with 48GBps HDMI cables. I've found the best way to test is with an Apple TV, if you have one. If everything is connected and you go into the ATV's video settings, it will only allow you to utilize 4K Dolby Vision @ 60Hz if you have a 48Gbps cable. With anything less, it will only allow you to select 4K HDR, or 4K Dobly Vision at something less than 60. If anyone reading this has something other than an OLED, note that most (but not all) LED TVs right now don't support Dolby Vision anyway, so there's no point in trying to upgrade for it unless your TV supports it.

That is a function of Apple TV 4K, not of the cable. I have gone through a few Apple TV 4K's and it has always been an Apple issue not a cable issue. My cheapest of cheap AmazonBasic and Monoprice HDMI 2.0 cables work perfectly fine on my actual working Apple TV 4K; moreover, anything related to processing like HDR, Dolby Vision, refresh rates, etc are a function of source and tv, not of the HDMI cable. Case in point: ever wonder why HDMI only has two testing requirements, bandwidth and EMI protection, for certification? It's because the cable doesn't matter. A 28AWG cable with bandwidth of 18Gbps doesn't miraculously undergo molecular or metallurgical changes to support bandwidth of 48Gbps, nor does a 28AWG cable used to claim 48Gbps undergo some mythical property changes over a thicker 26AWG cable which was dubbed only 18Gbps like other manufacturer's $40 HDMI cable.

Yes, you should be able to use this coupler to combine the two HDMI cables and make a length of 18ft. However, please keep in mind that any coupler or extension may slightly reduce the signal quality, so you may experience some degree of reduced performance when using the combined cables.Enter an answer to this question.

Quality Cable
Picked up the 3-footer to connect small-distance devices. Cable is sturdy and unyielding, so if you need to cover tight corners, think twice. Use one for an eARC soundbar and another to connect a HDMI 2.1 laptop to my TV for VRR. Both work great so far and have supported every feature I've needed. Haven't tried 4k 120hz since my TV is capped at 60hz and my monitor is 1080p 144hz, which it supports just fine. If you aren't connected straight-shots or minuscule bends, just grab the 6ft and route the cable, it's not worth the headache.

Makes the picture sharper and brighter
I switched from older cables to these new ones and found my TV and my Apple TV picture much clearer.

Intermittent drop
I am using the cables with a 2.1 hdmi extender over cat6a cable. There is occasionally intermittent drop to tv arc. I don?t know whether cause of drop is cables or extender.

worked perfectlt
Upgraded AppleTV 4K and Nvidia Shield Pro 2019 to proper 2160p HDR.
Plugged the cables in and both devices immediately detected they were connected to the LG C1 TV.

Cables seemed to have improved my UHD HDR connections
I was having HDR issues with my Apple TV 4K -> Denon X3500H -> Sony X900F when playing certain content (green saturation in deep white UHD HDR 4K imagery). Switching on HDR on both the Apple TV and Denon would sometimes crash where the TV would get in switching loop until I rebooted the Apple TV. I replaced the HDMI cables from the Apple TV -> Denon and Denon -> Sony TV with the 48 Gbps cables and I have not seen any problems in the first week. Main Plex screen also seems crisper. Small investment, big results. Im happy.

Size matters
Quality cables that will do the job but need longer than 3' to come in stock.
