Hi Can you use this amp with your Sycamore Outdoor 2.1 Speaker System? Would be interested in driving a total 2 subs and 8-10 satellite speakers, if not, what would you recommend? Thank you in advance.

1 subs and 4 speakers is the desired load for a 200w unity, running 2 subs and 8-10 speakers is an ask for the 200w. However, if you are going to do it a single 450w unity would be better or daisy chaining 2 200w unity using RCA with 1 sub and 4 speakers off each amp. To each there own, but in short the single 200w might be able to do the job but, more amplification is better especially if you have a large distance between the amp and speakers.

I used two Sonos amps with mine. I did one sub and four satellite speakers. Not sure on the amp you have picked. I also put two outdoor speakers on the house. They are awesome. It’s sounds great. I will be ordering a couple more Satellite speakers just for back up if mine quits working. You won’t be disappointed the are great.

Youd need a 70v system to safely run the speakers in parallel or add in a speaker selector between the amp and satillite speakers

using this to power my monoprice outdoor sub and 2 sats also 2 large outdoor speakers. only 2 speaker inputs so I have combined them. all hooked up to my Sonos Connect. I noticed that when my volume is at 3/4 on the amp and I crank my sonos app on my phone it cuts out. I thought this would have more power??? don't get me wrong it cranks but sometimes I'm looking for just a bit more. is there other equalizer settings I should use on my sonos app or phone? should I get another amp to separate the sub/sats with the 2 outdoor speakers? looking for answers., thanks

BEST ANSWER: If you are using a boosted bass setting on the app then yo may want to get another amp and a sub.
Be sure there is plenty of ventilation around the amp. If you are running the front and back end wide open the amp is going to get hot and possibly go thermal and shut down before permanent damage is done.
Flatten the EQ on the app and clear space around the amp. If the problem persists you may have a defective amp, get an RMA and send it back. If you need for volume then get an other amp and a sub.

It depends how you wired the speakers. You may be driving the impedance the amp sees down too low, and the amp is overloading and protecting itself. I expect the audio cuts out when there is a bass note in the music, which is when the demand on the amp will peak. There's lots of information on the Internet on how to wire multiple speakers to one amp. In a perfect world, you'd use one amp per set of speakers, but you can run multiple speakers off of a single amp, if you wired it right so the amp sees a load it's capable of driving correctly. Keep in mind that if you run the amp at 4ohms, instead of 8ohms, it will work harder and run hotter, shortening it's life.

What you have done is horribly wrong - surprised you haven't fried the amp, guess we now know it has a great protection system. The problem isn't power, you are applying something approaching a 2 ohm load to the amp. The amp is not intended to work below a 4 ohm load -or at least the one I have isn't.
Disconnect either the 2-way system or the sub/satellite system from this amp. Then buy another. I believe these amps allow you to chain them together so two or more of these amps can work from a single input. Reviewing the manual that came with the amp shows how this is done - if possible.

450W is a lot of power for both speaker sets. The sub is rated for 200W @ 8 Ohm and 400W @ 4 Ohm. The 2-way speaker are rated at 80W.

Subwoofer-wise I think you'd be fine. I have about a 50 foot wide space and does fine. However, I have a set of in-ceiling speakers running alongside the satellite's and I'm good. So, I'd recommend the extra set of satellite speakers you can order separately.

Hello, I would like to connect 8 speakers together with 2 subwoofers like the manual states. I was thinking of purchasing the Monoprice Unity 450 W Amplifier to push all 8 speakers and two subwoofers. Is this the best option or should i purchase two separate 200watt unity amplifiers for each unit? I would also like to run two additional speakers off my Yamaha amp so a total 10 speakers and two subwoofers. What do you recommend?

It’s not clear what your trying to do. Are you using the amp to add additional powered channels to an A/V receiver to set up an Atmos surround system or are these discrete speakers.
As far as driving subwoofers you need a purpose designed amp for low frequencies not a full range amp. Normally these are powered subwoofers or a special amp supplied with a LFE signal from the A/V receiver.

This is a question for someone familiar with the Sycamore system. The 450W amp is rated for 4-8 ohms so you have to be concerned with overdriving or under driving the amp with regard to the resistive load when you use more than 2 speakers. The amp only has connections for 2 speakers.

Yes! They have left and right speaker wire connections. I'd suggest getting 4 wire direct bury speaker wire. You will need some 2 wire direct bury to run to the satellite speakers as the thicker 4 wire doesn't fit through the routing channels.

I want to power a sub and 4 satellite receivers and am looking at two different AVR units that would drive these speakers as a second zone. The first receiver is preferable for other reasons (Denon AVR-S950H) and outputs speaker level output on 4 speaker terminals at 90W + 90 W (8 Ω/ohms, 20 Hz – 20 kHz with 0.08 % T.H.D.) / 125 W + 125 W (6 Ω/ohms, 1 kHz with 0.7 % T.H.D.). Would this be enough power to the system? I was thinking that if it was enough power I could avoid buying a power amplifier and hook the sub directly up to these 4 speaker terminals.
If not I would get the other receiver (Denon DRA-800H) which powers two pre-outs at 100 W + 100 W (8 Ω/ohms, 20 Hz – 20 kHz with 0.08 % T.H.D.). and buy an amplifier to put between the AVR and the sub,,

BEST ANSWER: No, since the true IPX testing requires water to shoot from all directions the sub will not pass as water that shot from below the "mushroom cap" will allow water into the chamber. I don't know if it has a rating, but I can tell you that if you TRY to squirt water into it, you can. If you take high pressure water and hit the stalk, you can force some water up and into the port holes. It's not easy and not much went in when I tried it. Ours is situated so that normally it gets hit by two different sprinklers for 45 minutes 3 times a week. Never a drop caused by the sprinklers. We had a tropical storm hit here and the water in the back yard went almost up to the cap. When the water receded, I checked inside. Perfectly dry. You really have to try to get water to go in or completely submerge it I would think.

Monoprice Speaker Wire, Burial Rated, 4-Conductor, 14AWG, 250ft, Gray
Direct Burial rated CL3 speaker wire is recommended. If you use this type of wire then a conduit is not necessary. 16/14 AWG guage wire is sufficient for most runs. Use 12AWG for longer runs. Monoprice has one but the available lengths may be longer than what you need. You can find less expensive shorter length varieties out there. I recommend getting the 4-wire conductor version which is easier to manage for the +/- connections for the two speakers.

Although I do not know the exact measurements, this thing is HUGE. It needs a pretty deep hole. At lease a couple feet deep. Also btw, this system sounds really good. For the price I was blown away. I added 2 more satellite speakers so I made a 4.1 system for my courtyard and i couldn't be happier, especially for the price!

You may have already tried this with good results. I tried this, and while the deck did not rattle, everything ON the deck rattled. The firepit, some of the chairs, the dining table, the deck boxes..... Had to move it. Chose a spot right off the pool deck. Can feel the bass under water and NOTHING rattles.

Hi, will this 450 watt unity amp work for a pair of 4 ohm speakers in conjunction with the Monoprice Sycamore Outdoor 2.1 Speaker System? Wiring at the amp will be 2x 2 wire conductor wire for the 2 4ohm speakers and 2x 2 wire conductor wire for the Monoprice Sycamore 2.1.

Monoprice Unity 450 Watt Bridgeable Power Amp
BEST ANSWER: No, if I am understanding your question correctly. You have 4Ω speakers that you want to use with the sub? The High-Pass output from the sub will only support an 8Ω load. Our satellite speakers are 16Ω so we can run 2 off of each channel for a total of 8Ω. For my money I would get 2 Unity 450 amps. Run one to the sub, the sub has its own passive 150Hz crossover. The other amp can run full range to your 4Ω speakers. I assume your speakers are a bit beefy if they are 4Ω. Before you bury the sub I would play with the positioning a bit first and be sure you're not getting any phase problems.

How do you connect the speaker wire to the little, tiny orange connector on the back of the satellite speakers?
A shopper
on Aug 27, 2023
BEST ANSWER: Good question! The provided instructions are not very clear. You need to pull the orange connector off the back of the satellites, then use a very small Phillips head screw driver on the underside to loosen the gap for each of TWO wires (the positive and negative) to be inserted on the back side of the connector. Then, once they're in, tighten the gaps by reversing the screws with the same screw driver. It's tough, but make sure the wires aren't too long or short so the clasps in the orange connector get a grip when screwed in tight. Hope this helps!

If I recall correctly, it is a Screw Terminal Block (you can look those up on youtube or elsewhere).
You have to strip the wire, insert into the hole, and screw the screw in which will squeeze the wire tight and hold it in place.

I bought this with two additional satellite speakers. I wonder if anybody could answer two questions I have.
1. Do the extra satellite speakers just get daisy chained to the other two speakers? Or do the extra speakers have their own connection back to the sub?
2. In looking over the Fosi Amp options, I'm wondering if it would be better to purchase the two channel with 300 watts per channel or would the 2 channel with 100 watts per channel be best? I already have the latter for another setup I have in my garage and I like it, but given the capacity of this new set, I'm wondering if it might be best to get the 300x2 amp?
In the manual, the recommended wattage for the satellites is 50-200 watts per channel at 8 ohms in stereo and the same for the subwoofer. However, the subwoofer is rated at 80 watts RMS with a peak of up to 160 watts. Just trying to figure out if in this case it would be better to provide a higher wattage amp and just not turn it all the way up or to go with the lower wattage amp.
Any help would be appreciated.

BEST ANSWER: These are a dual voice coil sub system. So the sub has 2 inputs, 2 outputs. It acts as the 'crossover' for the small satellite speakers. If you want to add 2 pairs of them, the manual shows the wiring. It is essentially series wiring, so it maintains a proper impedance for most amps.
As far as power, you usually want to have more power than the rating, but within a reasonable level. Speakers typically are damaged more by UNDER powered amps, rather than over power. It has to do with the levels a person drives them at, and how much distortion is introduced (louder an amp is run, more distortion it introduces).
Hope that helps.

Your two channels from the amp run through the subwoofer, and then connect to the other 4 speakers. Usually I'll do every other per channel. I've done multiple of this system with Sonos amps and in a relatively small yard/area, they will exceed expectations. You'll either want some kind of decent streamer, or Sonos type amp to adjust bass settings because the subwoofer will disturb neighbors in the late hours.
Years back I did the 4 speakers without a subwoofer for a front walkway. The client used the speakers for the holidays, specifically Halloween. This house we just ran off of zone 2 of his audio/video receiver.

OK for money
I had higher expectations for this sub overall. The satellite speakers are horrible, from the connections to the sound quality. I trashed them and installed the woofer only. I'm wondering if I should have bought two to get better sound but I'm not sure I'm willing to drop extra money and dig another hole to find out.

Good for the price simple changes would make it better
This is a budget speaker so limit expectations to that. I ran 14 gauge direct burial wire to the sub and the satellites. I then realized that the wire was too big to work with the satellites so I spliced in some 24 gauge wire to connect to the satellite. The hard mount for the satellite doesn't offer much for adjustment. I had to mount to the side so I can only adjust side to side not up and down. I used a clamp to test how it sounds at the angle I set then I screwed it in. The sound is good for background noise while hanging outside. I want to try these out for outdoor movie nights but haven't had the time to test. I feel they are worth the price paid. I would buy again. If they could update to handle a larger speaker wire and give x y axis adjustments to would be nice. It would be nice if they had instructions on how to run a second set of satellites. I ran in parallel assuming that with the crossover the amp would only see 8 ohms for most frequencies and maybe 6 in the overlap.

Waterproof Wiring Box recomendation
I bought PID 31034 and 31037 to have a total of 4 tweeters and one sub. I struggle a while to figure out which waterproof wiring box would be best for that scenario. I had 4-wire cable run to the sub from the amp, and 4x 2-wire cables running to tweeters, plus the cables that came in and out of the sub (which I believe was 2x 4-wire cables). Together that made 7 cables that needed to traverse the walls of the junction box.
This is what I purchased for that project and I recommend this solution to others seeking to do the same:
https://amzn.to/3LKxvDv
https://amzn.to/3BbgqOg
If you are only getting PID 31034, then I'd suggest this 5-way model since you have two less speakers:
https://amzn.to/3LLrFBL
With just 2 tweeters, you probably don't need the 2 in 4 Out GKEEMARS Lever Wire Connectors that I used, so just find some straight 2 in 2 out ones, or 10in10out, whatever floats your boat.
Though, you may want to future proof and buy the things for 4 tweeters and find a way to plug the extra holes for now. Perhaps a dowel?
Good luck. I wish someone had posted this info before I set out on this adventure. Sorry, I don't have a photo from inside the junction box. I used the wiring terminal that came with the box for the 4-wire to the sub, then the GKEEMARS for the outputs to the speakers.

Exceeded expectations
Exceeded my expectations in terms of sound quality. Friends have the Sonos system, but I can't tell the difference sound-wise, despite the Sycamore system costing 75% less (and that includes purchasing the outdoor amplifier separately).
My only complaint is that satellite speaker stakes & stake tips are flimsy. Nothing broke when I installed the speakers in the ground, but I was very careful in order to avoid a problem. Monoprice could invest in higher quality design & materials and still maintain a huge price advantage over the much more expensive Sonos.
