Could you add 3 more satellites and make this a 5.1 system?

BEST ANSWER: No, they would fall below the rated impedance and damage your amplifier.

One respondent stated that the impedance would fall below a safe level, but that is only if more than one satellite is wired in a parallel connection. Since the question asked was about a 5.1 system, then each of the five satellite speakers would be driven directly by its respective amplifier channel (i.e. one channel's amplifier = one satellite speaker ONLY). You would need an amplifier from your receiver's SUBWOOFER RCA output jack, since it is a line level signal (i.e. about 1 volt). Personally I think the entire set-up might sound a little "thin". Most satellite speakers are still being fed some low-end bass content which the size of these satellite speakers may not be able to reproduce effectively.

Most of the 8" ceiling speakers that I have used in commercial installations sound better without a backbox as the attic acts as an Infinite Baffle. Most manufacturer's back boxes are so shallow and poorly damped that they sound 'nasal'. This may be adequate for voice paging, but takes away from music reproduction. I would lay a section of fiberglass batt over the woofer to protect it from attic dust, sheetrock particles that may cause rattles against the woofer's cone.

The documentation says you can run two pairs of tweeters but the manual does not cover how these are connected. My assumption is that you connect both pairs in parallel. I.e. the wires for both left speakers are connected to the same left speaker output on the subwoofer and the same for the two right speakers. Is this correct?
Sven J
on Aug 8, 2020
BEST ANSWER: Yes, there are two inputs for left and right channels into the sub, than on side of sub should be outputs to the tweeters. Each wire should be direct to tweeter from sub

Yes, this is accurate. You can bring all back to the sub, or go from speaker to speaker, if that makes the run easier.

Does the sub need its own amplifier or is there a crossover?
A shopper
on Aug 16, 2018
BEST ANSWER: The product description states: True 2.1 System: The subwoofer employs a 2-way, 12db crossover at 200Hz, so it uses all frequencies below 200Hz and sends all frequencies above 200Hz to the satellite speakers.

Thank you! How should I Wire everything to achieve that? Are those directions in the kit? The manual on this product page is for the wrong set so I can’t tell.

Could these speakers be mounted outside under an overhang?

Can these be paired with the 10761 6 zone amplifier?
A shopper
on Oct 4, 2018
BEST ANSWER: These will work with the 6-zone amp. The output of the 10761 is only 25W per channel @ 8Ω. It will work but the bass may be a little lacking since you are not pushing the 8" speaker very hard.

Thanks for answering. If I find it lacking is there a second amplifier you would recommend (to amplify the output of the 10761)?
18513 will put 50W in each channel and 18514 will put 100W in each.
Dave, if you bridge the output from the 6-zone amp can you connect it to this 2.1 system at 8 ohms to push 100 watts?
I would strongly advise NOT to do this. Dual voice coils need to have nearly identical source material and gain. If you were to accidentally switch to a different source with one of the channel you could basically rip the coil apart. A better play would be to get the Unity 200 Watt amp, 18514. It will drive 100W per side at 8Ω.

How do the satellites connect to the sub? From the manual it looks like some type of special connector. Do they come with pigtails?

BEST ANSWER: There is not special connection. The subwoofer can accept bare speaker wire or banana plugs also. They are just spring loaded connectors like normal speakers.

The picture and manual only show two sets of spring loaded connectors for the source (from the amplifier). So there are two additional sets of spring loaded connectors somewhere (4 total)?
That it correct you wire the left and right channel from the amplifier to the subwoofer The two satellites are then connected to the subwoofer. There is a crossover built into the subwoofer that filters out the lower frequencies to the satellites and sends just the mids and highs to them.

That would depend on your area.

Small Room Stereo Dream Setup
Great bang for your buck! If you have a small bathroom or bedroom and want to blow that room to another hemisphere with audio this set will get you that. The subwoofer including a bypass is optimal for folks without the means of acquiring a separate amp or dealing with the cost of a dedicated sub. Installation was no different than any ceiling mount speakers. Be aware the subwoofer is quite heavy for a one person install. Give yourself some slack on wire so you can place the sub on your ladder. Overall extremely happy with this setup. Purchasing on sale helped a lot lol?. Awesome product!

Great Bathroom Speakers. Rock out with your c*ck out !!!
Great little system, easy to drive, sounds great, has meaningful low end, installs very firmly, all at a killer price.
Have it installed in my bathroom, with a Jamo 50Wx2 multi purpose amp, an amazon eco link. It Rocks the place, and its kind of cool listening to Alexa from above.
It does not have tone controls, but it does not feel like it needs it. Sounds pretty balanced. The bass is not overbearing and does not rattle.
Would recommend for music, podcast listening, in small rooms like bathrooms, kitchens, offices, etc? Don't know how it would sound as a home theater 2.1.

Impressed
I installed this in an arcade I built. The speaker part of the cabinet is lined with butyl, 1/2" glass on the front and sealed tight. It's powered with a cheap $30 100x100w amp with bass control.
The bass makes the cabinet shake and the sound is overall decent. As with any architectural speaker, it will sound different with every install if you can't regulate what's behind it, but it worked fantastic for my application.
The spring tabs on the satellites were a different story. I was able to wedge pieces of wood on the back side to basically wedge the tabs and speaker solidly into place. Obviously, you're rarely going to have this option, so I'm not impressed there. All they need are stronger tighter springs.

Awesome bang for buck.
I don't think you can find better in wall speaker system for money. The sub has a crossover so no low bass filters are needed and it sounds really good to me and other people that head it. If I crank it up it will shake walls and my tub( I've installed it in my bathroom). The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because the small speakers have a spring like mount, and if you have insulation it will push the speakers out, wish they had tabs that slide out like the woofer.

In the celling of my bathroom
