Is this rated for in-wall use?
New User U
on Feb 14, 2020
BEST ANSWER: Yes, that is the “riser rated (CMR)” part. It is not rated to go inside a plenum, so don’t put it in duct work. If you have a raised floor or drop ceiling that acts as a plenum, you need plenum rated cable there also.

Riser cable is for in-wall and explicitly not in HVAC plenums.

Is this cable shielded?
Yadavinder S
on Apr 3, 2019
BEST ANSWER: No, it is not. That is what the "U" in UTP stands for, unshielded. Mine also did not have the static drain wire although it is pictured with one.

Guys, all you have to do is to LOOK at the picture. The shielded variety have FOIL wrap on them.

Which pass through and keystone connectors would be best to use with this wire?
New User U
on Mar 24, 2019
BEST ANSWER: IMO, u guys are splitting hairs. ANY keystone that uses a traditional spring-loaded punching tool is tried&true, and this is my experienced opinion, skip the tools-less variety.

can be installed in the attic ? can be installed outside the walls ? can be put in the PVC conduit outdoor around the house ?
Nicusor C V
on Oct 26, 2020
BEST ANSWER: Sure. This is a much better grade of "shell" that encases the wiring than what I had been previously using. I see no reason it cannot be installed in the attic. There is always a bit of concern outdoors, however. Most of my runs that go outside my house are fairly short and I encase the "bunch" together in electrical tape -- just as an insurance policy against weathering. If running a line underground, I would recommend doing as you mentioned and use some PVC. Note that if any run goes over roughly 90-100 meters/yards, you'll want to consider using a network switch to boost the signal for any CAT cable -- inside or outside.

Good Stuff
This has worked fine for us, new buildout, so we are only running 1Gb over it. Note this is unshielded.
