BEST ANSWER: The left plate has the IR receiver mounted to it. There's a short cable from it that plugs into the main body of the screen on the left. Insure that the cable is plugged in and the remote is pointed at the IR receiver.

Is there a plug on this unit? The instructions are very vague. In one picture in the manual, there does appear to be a power cord coming out of the unit

Thanks Dave. Appreciated the response. I bought the unit after I saw this as wanted one with a plug to simplify the install. On page 9 there is info about having to wire a receiver to motor and power line. If there is a plug as mentioned, what is all the wiring needed for? Not following why you can t just use the plug to power it up?

What is the size and pitch of the all-thread that comes with this for mounting? What is the distance between the all-thread mount locations? This information would be very useful for obtaining brackets and nuts for preparing a space for installation where the provided concrete ceiling instructions will not work (i.e. almost all homes in the U.S.).

It does not seem as though an external switch comes with the unit? Can you recommend one that you sell that is compatible? Or if you don’t sell them, anything specific we should look for in a switch? Also what type of wire do we connect from the screen to a switch?

Thanks Dave, but our electrician does not see how this would get hooked up to the unit. There are no instructions. Someone else responded saying there is no external control box. I’m not sure what that is, but our you sure this unit has one?

Thanks Dave. The rs 232 needs to be wired to a computer, right? Some projectors have some 12 v trigger function which I think could be wired via a cable between the screen and projector? No way to do that correct?

I already have the previous (non-4K) Monoprice 120" ceiling-recessed matte projector screen. I'm about to upgrade to a 4K projector and I have a couple questions about this screen:
1. Since I already have the hole cut in my ceiling, will this one fit neatly into the same space?
2. How much of a difference does this screen make when viewing 4K content from a 4K projector as compared to the previous non-4K matte screen?

BEST ANSWER: The housing is the same but I would still double check. You WILL see a difference in the Standard HD vs. our new Ultra HD 4K. It is not only a crisper image but is also a little brighter.

We have not fully installed the unit we purchased. I wanted to test it before and so set it up between two shelves. I then proceeded to plug in the unit and I pressed the remote button. It blinked red but the screen never moved, no sound or sign of movement.. The instructions are pretty vague so not really sure what I’m missing. Any ideas
S of what might be wrong or if there is another step needed to test it? When I plug it in, I think I hear a faint beep which originally I thought that was a good sign.
, ow not so sure.

Great screen with a few challenges.
Great screen but a few challenges. Mine is used with a VAVA 4K ultra short throw projector (set for 120 viewing). The VAVA is a very bright projector, but you must control ambient light in the room or it will wash out the image a bit. Also, a 120 screen is a lot of material and will sway with any amount of wind from a person walking by or from air conditioning breeze. I solved the sway problem by mounting hinged door stoppers on the wall that rest on the ends of the screen bar when it is deployed.

FINALLY! A high quality recessed, motorized screen!
I took delivery of this 120" screen last week...FedEx shipping was awesome. We took our time getting things measured, placement on my ceiling, planning power delivery, etc. I used the box to make a template for the cutout in my ceiling (you have one large, long piece of cardboard, put it to use. The case is 4.1" wide, and I made my hole 4.5" since the flange easily will cover that.
Fit and finish were excellent. A few white specs of something were stuck to the black section at the very bottom of the screen...probably just plastic machinings from something, they came off without leaving any marks. The actual screen is pretty much flawless. There are a couple horizontal "impressions" from the real, but I think they are already smoothing out as it hangs. The operation needed no adjustment, nor did the tensioners. The screen curls slightly on the left and right, but is perfectly flat on the screen...but I don't think any tension adjustment would help or make a difference.
I also installed an Epson 5040UBe. Running a true 4K disk is amazing. The screen is perfectly flat, no hot spot, and shows every detail the technology can deliver.
The remote is either a little weak or the sensor is not positioned well...you have to get under it or press the button a couple times...no big deal and it works. Will try to train my Harmony to control it and see if it's IR capability is better than the included remote (I suspect/hope so).
Motor is smooth and not too loud, but does make a sound as it runs. Instructions could be better and I almost dinged a star for that, but my true rating is 4.5. Monoprice support did clarify my question...the diagram telling you which side is which is not very clear...would be easy to draw more of the power cord and label things better.
Overall, stunning. Both up and down. When it's up, it's virtually not there. The plastic is nicely finished with lines to break up the profile too...love it!
