Can't speak to other HiFiMans that could have different connector cavities or soroundings, but they fit perfectly fine on the HE4XX's.

Theoretically yes, the cable is single pole and has no special behaviors on cable soldering from my take apart of the connector

Are these balanced or unbalanced?
A shopper
on Mar 5, 2018
Given that this has a main 3.5mm TRS connector, it's single-pole. A balanced cable would need to use a TRRS configuration, and is typically XLR or 2.5mm.

BEST ANSWER: Honestly, if I base myself on OFC's typical color, this being much lighter and pink'ish in tone, it would be logical if it were SPC... But a confirmation would be nice. I own the cable, but hardly ever use it anymore.

Hey, I'm not a rep but I do own this cable, a silver plated cable and a pure silver cable and this monoprice cable has no silver, it's pure copper. What made you think it had silver?

BEST ANSWER: It is TRS at the 3.5mm for connection to your source and 2.5mm TS For connection to the headphones as this is a mono signal. They are the same type of cable terminations for headphones such as Senn HD700 or some HiFiMAN

BEST ANSWER: 3.5mm is Single Ended. 4-pin XLR is balanced. You can't have 3.5mm balanced. If you want to use 3.5mm then use a 1/4" adapter to 3.5mm and plug into SE. Otherwise you can use a 4-Pin XLR to 2.5mm balanced adapter (massdrop makes one) that allows you to run 2.5mm balanced to 4-pin XLR. There is no such thing as an adapter with multiple terminations nor a 3.5mm balanced cable.

To rephrase my question- "Will Monoprice release a 4-pin balanced XLR cable that will terminate at dual 3.5mm plugs?" You can buy this at multiple places online, but Monoprice usually has the best price to quality ratio so I was curious about that.
And there are 3.5mm balanced cables. Look up "TRRS 3.5mm balanced cable." My iFi xDSD provides this connection.

How 'limp' is this cable? The other option, the fabric coated cable that comes with Mono's headphones is stiffer than I like and the cable coating has memory for kinks and bends.

Is this cable available with a 1/4" plug instead? My existing M1060 cable doesn't work well (as-if a little too small) in a 1/4" adapter, so I would like a new one with that plug built in.

Does this cable solve the stock-cable problem of "2.5mm end continually partially disconnects at headphones with any head movement" problem? My m570's sound AMAZING, but the constant 'hold 2.5mm end to the headphones or you'll get cut-out' is crazy-making. (this has been a problem for years, Monoprice...why has it not been fixed in newer models?? For the $ we pay, having cables fit properly seems a pretty basic ask.).

Starting breaking almost immediately
Got this cable as a replacement for my old cable that had stopped working. But after just a couple of times using the new cable with my monolith headphones, the right side is already starting to cut out, which is frustrating.

These.. these are it !!
I bought this cable to replace the one that came with the Nighthawks and surprisingly noticed a difference instantly, I couldn't take my headphones off! I was initially drawn to this cable because of how it looks but it sounds even better to me. If it holds up with daily use I'll def purchase another one.

Almost perfect
I want to give this cable 5 stars. It's durable, sounds great, perfect length and I love the look. The only issue is that the 1/8" termination end seems slightly smaller than normal. All of my adapters to 1/4" fit loosely. I've not had this problem with any other cable. If you rattle that end at all you will loose a channel or get static. A screw down end would have been nice and alleviated this issue. Hopefully I can hunt down an adapter that will fit snugly. I just don't want to have to buy a bunch to find one that does, and I shouldn't have to.

I <3 Monoprice and this cable
I sought out this cable because I didn't like how short the stock cable was for my HE4XX; plus I started to notice a couple times that the connection to the ear cups can be slightly disconnected if bumped accidentally. (Always be careful with your headphones, obviously... but, accidents happen).
Anyway, I already love the look of braided cables, but I firmly believe in function over form, so it's nice that the primary reason is for strength & durability. (Some might not like the "pink-ish" color of the exposed copper, but I love the way it looks, especially against the midnight blue of the HE4XX).
I can't really comment on any audible sonic differences, but it CERTAINLY didn't hurt! I wanted this mainly for the extra length and durability, but my cans still sound fantastic, so there's that. (I'll leave the comparisons & measurements to the more serious audiophiles).
Thank you again, Monoprice!

Usable for other headphones
These are excellent cables immune to microphonics. They can be very easily made balanced by cutting off the 3.5mm connector and soldering on a Neutrik 4-pin XLR instead. The grounds are still split all the way down, giving you 4 conductors. They will be the lightest balanced headphone cable you will ever find. I can happily scrunch them into a ball in my pocket!
I will be purchasing more and soldering 4-pin XLR minis instead of the 2.5mm for more additions to my headphone collection... :)
Monoprice, if you're listening, please save me the effort and make many connector variations of this same cable!
It's time for the $150+ headphone cable market to get destroyed.

Considering the price of aftermarket cables, you cant expect more than what these are. That is good sounding, good length and pretty flexible. I was looking for something more transparent and a little longer than my original cable, that is exactly what I got.

replaced cable on M1060
I've owned my M1060 for about a year. Been flawless and superb. Recently, the sound started to get fuzzy in the midrange. Like rain in the distance.
Occasionally the sound would drop out from the right ear. Thought it was either a defective headphone or a bad cable. So I opted to get this upgrade. Wasn't expecting much.
WOW!!! Right away, I can tell a difference. Throughout the range the improvement in clarity is remarkable. Detail clear highs, mids, and bass all seem sharper clearer.
typically, I'm not a magic cable person. I think most all well made cables sound the same; this was a dramatic improvement.
Thanks again, Monoprice!
