Is this color singlemode or multimode?
A shopper
on Oct 18, 2018
BEST ANSWER: By convention, natural color or black couplers are for multimode fiber, blue indicates single mode, and green indicates APC (angled faces to reduce light reflections back to the source, mostly for bidirectional links like GPON networks). However, the coupler itself could be used with any type of fiber.

LC Couplers (of which this is one) merely bring the fibers together, they do not have optics themselves. Use single or multimode on both sides and it will work.

OM3 or OM4 rated?
A shopper
on Mar 31, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Om3 and Om4 ratings are for fiber cable not couplers, this should work for OM1-4 and OS1/2, because you are essentially connecting 2 of the cables directly together.

BEST ANSWER: I don't think you can get them in other colors. You can attach different color cables to them for identification.

Do these come with dust covers for the optics on the room side of the jack? If no then how should the optics be protected while the port is not in use?

BEST ANSWER: Thank you for your question.
This item would not come with dust covers but dust covers can be purchased separately from many online retailers.

Works great
Finally got the keystone bracket for my server rack. It clicked in easy and plugged in and worked. Just wish that Monoprice had a shorter fiber cable for it. Like around 1 ft maybe 6 inches. That would make great jumpers from the patch panel to the switch.

fiber keystone jack
Not much you can do wrong with a keystone jack (this happens to be for fiber).
Fits the keystone mounting hole - holds the fiber securely - has 'cute' little caps. It is everything you want in a keystone jack and nothing you don't need.
No drama - no mess - that's why I keep Monoprice on the list of shopping options.

Works with multimode fiber
I took a chance on these, as the description doesn't indicate if they work with multimode or single mode fiber and the monoprice rep I chatted with didn't know either.
The good news is that they work fine with my 62.5/125 multimode fiber. I assume they'll work fine with 50/125 multimode fiber as well.
I've since figured out that beige connectors, such as the coupler in this keystone, indicate multimode, whereas a blue connector would indicate single mode. I'm almost certain these aren't compatible with single mode fiber because of the color code.
PROS: Works with 62.5/125 multimode fiber.
CONS: Monoprice didn't know what sorts of fiber it's compatible with.

Can be taken out of keystone
If you're just looking for a cheap LC-LC fiber coupler, buy these. It's a few seconds of work for each one to take a small screwdriver, push in the metal tabs, and pop the coupler out of the keystone. There is no epoxy holding it in, just the small metal tabs on either side of the coupler.
PROS: Cheap, considering most LC-LC couplers are ~$4-10/ea
CONS: Monoprice does not sell the couplers without the keystone
