What are the coupler parts made of? These are the shaft on the pitcher and the socket on the base. Thank you.
David R
on Feb 27, 2018
BEST ANSWER: They are steel. The geared parts are metal, not plastic. This is a well made blender, powerful. The only tricky thing is to make sure that the pitcher is firmly on the base, and the lid is firmly on the pitcher so that the little safety trigger mechanisms are pushed in or the thing won't start. That tripped me up early on until I realized what was happening. The lid fits tightly because of the silicone seal, so it takes a bit of effort to get it onto the pitcher fully. I find that if you set the back and (the handle end) of the lid on first so it engages the safety mechanism, then push the rest of the lid downward, that technique works the best.

They are made of plastic. The pitcher, sadly is not well made and key pieces that trigger the functionality broke after 3 uses. I had to crazy glue the parts over a 24hr period in order for me to use it. I couldnt return it since I bought it to take to another country and stayed too long. The base is solid and I have no complaints against it. The motor is surprisingly really good, on par with my 500.00 home blender.

How is this for making nut butters? Anyone tried it on soaked cashews?
A shopper
on Jul 15, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I tried doing soaked cashews up to a little below the fill line and almost burned out the machine. It stopped running after a couple of minutes at which point I started to smell overheated plastic or rubber. I let it cool for 30 minutes and it came back on. I then ran it for about a minute (I had the thing filled with the partially processed cashews) and again it stopped itself as it overheated. I then just ran it for about 15 seconds, let it cool down and repeat until it was done. So NO it is not powerful enough to easily do a full load of cashews. It will overheat. The good news is that it seems to have a thermostat to turn itself off before it permanently damages itself.

I have tried it twice again only half filled with soaked cashews and stopping it frequently to scape and stir. It worked okay, but really needed to be turned off and rested a bit while you scraped and stirred. The third time I added about a cup of water and even then, it could not blend the cashews without turning it off and scraping and stirring, regardless of the speed setting. So it can make a smooth cashew paste or spread, but it probably should not be filled to the max, takes some manual work, and needs to be turned off and rested while you scrape the sides down.

It works great on soaked or unsoaked cashews....it is powerful enough that you do not really need to soak the cashews ahead of time. I would think that for something drier like nut butter would work, as long as you continuously scrape down the sides.

Never made but butters but I would imagine it depends on consistancy. Given the tapered container I would assume a good processor would be best.

Same observation here. Maybe they would rather we not remove the blades. I thought about it but ultimately decided against it. So far, I’ve been able to keep it clean without having to remove the blades. I use a bottle cleaning brush to get all the way down there in 4 or 5 inches of soapy warm water after each use of the blender.

on Mar 2, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Most likely, though you're better off with a food processor for dry goods like that. This blender is certainly powerful enough, just not sure the shape is well-suited. Blenders typically rely on a liquid to create a vortex in order to pull the food down into the blades, but using the tamper you could probably push bread down enough to break it down. Just don't expect a super fine chop.

Can I get replacement parts?
Several plastic parts on the handle/safety mechanism on mine broke or fell off. Do you have a replacement part for the black piece on the bottom of the pitcher that is held in by two screws It cracked up by the top of the screws. I can still use it, but it's going to break for good if that piece isn't replaced.
Also a small part at the top of the handle popped off. I popped it back on, but the tolerances of the molding of parts seems not the greatest.

Does everything I've asked it to
I've had this blender for a little over a year now, and it has done everything I've asked it to. Granted, I'm not using it every day like some other reviewers here, but it happily makes smoothies, milkshakes, and crushed ice without breaking a sweat.
Pros:
I bought this to replace a run-of-the-mill blender (I think it was an Oster) that I accidentally broke, and it totally blows that one out of the water.
It has more than enough power to crush ice and nuts, where my old one would really struggle.
As a safety feature, the blender will not turn on if the lid is off, so I'm not worried about my little ones accidentally putting their hand inside.
In comparison with my old one, I think this blender is actually quieter.
Cons:
It's big. I recognize that this is specific to my kitchen, but it can't fit underneath my cupboards all set up, so I have to set the two pieces next to each other instead.
There are measurement markings on the blender, but they are solely in liters and milliliters. Not a big issue, but when my recipes call for 3 cups of whatever, I have to look up a conversion table.
Overall I recommend this blender. I don't have experience with the $300+ blenders out there, so I can't comment on the differences, but if you're coming from the $30-$40 blenders from Walmart/Target/etc... you will be very pleased.
