The collapsed height does not increase the desktop working height, so it is still comfortable, and the expanded height works well for when I want to stand (like when on conference calls). The reason I didn't give this 5 stars is because the left adjustment slider is hard to release. I must squeeze it from underneath where I can get a better grip on it as opposed to just using my thumb and actuating it from the top as it is intended to work. The construction of this unit feels solid, even when in the elevated configuration.

Really nice build, sturdy really stable movement when raising and lowering the desk. Does not feel cheap in any way. The handles to raise and lower are well positioned and good surface area. We loved the various height options.
