BEST ANSWER: Item 27481 has an LED Indicator.

LED Indicator: An RGB LED indicates on/off status, Z-Wave network range, and power load.
It appears if plugged into the bottom of a standard outlet, the size would block the top outlet. Is this true?
    Jerome L on Oct 20, 2017
BEST ANSWER: No. The top outlet can be used. Ungrounded cords and grounded (three prong) cords fit easily when this device is plugged into the bottom outlet.
Doesn’t the repeater works only when the switch is turned on or the repeater is always on as long as the device is plugged in?
    New User U on Nov 28, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Its always on as long as it is plugged in, it's a standard for z-wave
How do I get this to work with Google assistant?
    A shopper on Dec 17, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I have Alexa, not Google, but I assume that the process is the same. With Alexa, you need a hub to connect the Monoprice Z-Wave products to. I have my Monoprice Z-Wave gear (Including this plug) connected to my Samsung Smartthings hub (They were cheap but I believe the price has been increasing) then my Alexa connects to the hub and tells the hub to power on the switch. The downside is a slight delay when items have to go through a hub as opposed to a direct connection with Alexa/Google. The advantage of using a hub, at least with Alexa, is that you can set up Routines and Scenes, Google may be different. Good Luck!
Does it have a energy meter as well? Looks similar to Zooz switch
    A shopper on Dec 8, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yup. Shows instantaneous as well as cumulative energy usage. The color ring just shows the instantaneous usage whereas both are shown in the SmartThings app. Haven't tried it with Wink.
How do you connect it to smartthings?
    Andrew K on Dec 5, 2017
BEST ANSWER: For me, I just plugged it in, brought up the ST app and it showed up in a minute or so. It wasn't particularly close to the hub either (ST Hub v2).
Will this dim a light or is it only on/off? Thanks
    John G on Jan 10, 2018
BEST ANSWER: it is not a dimmer. it's either off or on. it does measure energy usage though. Also the USB ports are only on if the outlet is on. Something to keep in mind
Is it possible to turn off the LED indicator when the device is off, i.e., the lamp or anything connected to it is not drawing power ?
    New User U on Jan 14, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Yes you can, but you need a z-wave hub capable of setting advanced settings. The default device handler for SmartThings doesn’t allow changing it. But there are custom device handlers that can change it.
DOES THE Monoprice Z-Wave Plus Smart Plug and Repeater WORK PROPERLY AND EXTEND WITH A NEXIA NETWORK?
    A shopper on Jul 8, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I have a couple of these and they work well in my zwave system using a Smartthings controller. As Nexia uses zwave I see no reason they would not work.
When I plug mine in, the led only shows white. Does nothing else. Is this normal?
    Jonathan S on Feb 3, 2018
BEST ANSWER: No, it should change colors based on power use, or a purple color when it's off. It might have an advanced feature bit doing this, but I did not find it in the documentation
What are the preferred settings to use with the vera edge ?
    A shopper on Jan 19, 2018
BEST ANSWER: It depends on what app your using to control the device. I have Samsung Smarthings Hub, setup was easy.
For the usage you'll need to know what you pay per kilowatt. I've just have mine setup as a switch currently.

    Hope this helps a little.

Nice switch but NO USB SWITCHING
Got the AC switch to work fairly quickly with my SmartThings hub. The USB ports work regardless of the AC switch state so they're not controlled despite the description.

    NOT RECOMMENDED - Alternative identified
I purchased two plug-n devices, this and a very similar Product # 15654. Although this product is very esthetically pleasing with rounded corners and halo LED light, the # 15654 performed much better in locations where this product would not switch. The # 15654 is a boxy unit with a bright red led on light. Not very pleasing, but if performance matters it is recommended over this device. As a plus, the Product # 15654 is less cost.

Works Well, but Description is Wrong
Size: Decently small and when plugged into the bottom outlet, there is just enough for a standard three-prong plug to go in above it. Any over-sized plug would not fit.

Setup: For SmartThings it was easy. I went into the app, clicked the “Add a Thing” button and then plugged in the plug and it popped up in the app. Took about 15 seconds for my first one and 5 when I did the second. It comes up as a “Z-Wave Metering Switch” and shows On/Off state, current wattage (updated about every 10 seconds), total kWh consumed and an option to reset the kWh.

Use: The colored LED ring changes pretty quick with the power demand. I plugged in a toaster oven and within a second of turning it on it changed to red, then back to blue when I turned it off. The button works for manually turning the AC outlet on and off two. The change is quickly seen in the SmartThings app.

USB Outlets: As other reviewers have said, the USB outlets are NOT switched. They are always on. I luckily didn’t need that functionality, but be warned if you do.

Overall: Other than the lack of USB port switching, it works well. If the description was fixed to say the USB ports are always on, I would give it 5-stars.

    Great little device so far.
This is a great relay switched plug (as opposed to dimming plugs)I use one for turning off aquarium equipment during water changes (easier to flip a switch on my phone than reaching into the cabinet) and one for switching on and off the 120V outdoor electric car charger when I am not home (outlet is inside garage, but charge end of cord is always outside)It has the nice bonus of energy use monitoring, so I set up e-mail alerts on my controller to let me know when the car finishes charging. Whenever the car is drawing more than 1000W I know it is actively charging or preheating.

Nice wireless switch. USB ports not controllable
Nice and slim. Connects with Wink and Hass. However the USB plugs would not switch off to control my tv bias lights as advertised.

Nice product and value for extra functionality over a smart plug.
I just received these and installed into my SmartThings environment. They work great. I had to bring them close to the hub to configure them into my devices and then, after having them connect to the hub, moved them to another location to use. Being repeaters, once configured to the hub, connected to the zwave network, are working great.

I need to look deeper into whether the light ring is configurable as these are installed in a bedroom. I would like to have the light ring not lit when off. That is likely an option I have not researched yet.

Overall, these switches with usb chargers look good, seem high quality and very good value compared to similar products. I recommend these. I have 2 and will likely buy more.
