I personally could not get the splitter to operate properly when duplicating displays. It would lock up my system. Extending displays works great but only at 60hz on any resolution I tried.

Hello! If I connect two DP 1.2 capable displays from this splitter can I shut off either of the two display sources if I need to from the splitter box? I mean other than physically unplugging an output cable. Thanks!!

BEST ANSWER: No, the box either powers both displayport simultaneously. The only way I have found to shut only one port off is to unplaug the port you are wanting off.

Is this compatible with Mac OS and Mac laptops?
John W

BEST ANSWER: It doesn’t talk about what OS’s it supports, but does say it is VESA and DP++ compliant. I use a Windows10 system, but I would expect that it would work with MacBooks. As monitors are generic, HP, ASUS, viewsonic, I’ve seen them used with both windows and Mac machines, I would expect that the video signal to have standards, just as TVs do by region around the world. As the instructions are pretty generic, I would expect it to work with a Mac

I would expect DisplayPort connections to be the same for Mac as for windows. I would expect this to work. I have had great results with two of these on different windows systems. One of which I've used since 2017.

BEST ANSWER: Thank you for your question.
This may not work because this splitter was not tested with converters but if it were to work you would probably not need to use a repeater to get thing s working.

BEST ANSWER: Yes, I connected this to my Dell M4600 and 2 Dell HDMI monitors using 2 active displayport to HDMI adapters, (Product # 12781). I had quality extended desktop, beautiful pictures. Don't forget, get a displayport patch cable, I used the 3-ft, (Product # 13359).

I have a three-part question. My PC only supports 3 monitors, and I want to duplicate one monitor onto a 4th display (all are 1920x1080x32bit@60Hz). My primary question is, can this duplicate the image while presenting only a single display device to the PC (in my case keeping the PC within its 3 display limit)? As subordinates to that question, which output does this pass to the PC for EDID data (output 1 or 2), and is the device able to support HDCP content on both outputs in this configuration? Thanks.

BEST ANSWER: I don't have a precise answer although I spent several hours this evening with something similar. While my video card supports four monitors, I want two of my three to be mirrored/cloned. As far as I can tell, that type of configuration is done with the utilities for the graphics card. I'm running an nVidia card on an Ubuntu (linux) workstation. The nvidia-settings utility lets me set the placement of one monitor to the "Same As" another and that clones it. The OS still sees three monitors but I get what I need. So to answer your primary question, no.
Bottom line, this splitter makes each monitor look like a separate monitor but the graphics card may allow you to play games. It does not just route one signal to two monitors making the PC and OS oblivious to the split. I wish it did. My hunch it that it will not work for you because it does look like another monitor. I couldn't find a DisplayPort "splitter" anywhere. Everything I find is MST- multi-stream transport.
Because it appears as two monitors I think it is passing each EDID separately. No idea on HDCP. I think that is just a function of each monitor.
There are HDMI splitters that do that. Maybe a DP=>HDMI converter then one of those would work, although I have no idea if the EDID would find it's way back through that mess.

I would like to mirror the thunderbolt output from my imac on a 2k display port monitor and 1080 TV using an active dp to HDMI adapter. Will this splitter work? If both displays are active, will l get 1080 resolution on both. If I turn off the TV, or deselect the computer input on my TV, will I get 2k resolution on my 2k monitor?

BEST ANSWER: Thank you for your question.
We cannot guarantee this would work with an adapter but we can guarantee this would only output one resolution at a time so you cannot get 2k to one output and 1080P to another.

Anyone else notice the incorrect picture in the users manual? It shows two laptops connecting to one monitor. Don't see how that could ever work, or why you would want to, that's what a KVM does, but that has a switch to toggle between the two sources

Hello,
I plan to connect one end of this device to Display Port on my docking station and on the other end I plan to connect to 2x4K monitors.
I know that it will work but I am trying to confirm whether or not both monitors will get 4k@60Hz ?
My guess is no, but would like to confirm that before placing an order.
Thank you!

This worked great. My video card only has 1 DisplayPort, but my digital kvm switch has 2. The video cards HDMI jack did not work with the kvm switch. This splitter allows the video to be extended to both monitors

Works Beautifully
I'm running Win7 64-Bit on Dell M4600 with Dell Dock E-Port Plus, AMD Firepro M5100 2-GB, and 3 Dell HDMI monitors. This 1x2 DisplayPort Splitter is plugged into the first DisplayPort connection on the Dock using 2 Active DisplayPort to HDMI adapters. A 3rd Active DisplayPort to HDMI adapter plugged into the 2nd DisplayPort connection on the Dock. Everything works, Extended Display across 3 monitors, couldn't be more pleased. Thanks MonoPrice for exceptional products 8-)
