Yes. I have a 2017 MBP with Retina & Touch Bar. The laptop I'm currently typing on is being charged from the OEM Apple 87W with this cable. It is thicker and less flexible than the OEM cable, but high quality.

When will this be available in a length longer than 1 meter?
A shopper
on Jul 21, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Thank you for your inquiry. Currently we are unable to get a length longer than 1m for a Gen 2 cable. I recommend our Select Series 3.1 USB-C to USB-C Gen 1 cable (PID 24284). This cable is 2m in length and can still reach 3A and 5 Gbps.

The 3.1 Gen 2 specification limits the length to 1 meter. It's a limitation of the specification of the technology.

I'm actually using them with the Pixel 2 XL, using the stock charger - charges at the same rate as the stock cable that came with the phone.

How can I figure out which generation cable I need to charge my phone between Gen 2,Gen 3.1 or Gen 2.1?

BEST ANSWER: Hello,
Thank you for your inquiry. All three cables should work great on any phone. What it comes down to is how fast of a transfer speed and charge speed you want. If you have a newer phone the best option would be a 3.1.

Bought the 1m cable
Well, it worked great for about a year, then it stopped supporting my monitor today. I just upgraded and bought the 40gbps thunderbolt cable hoping that it lasts a bit longer. Until that point, no big delays (a little noticeable, but not bad). It's still charging my macbook pro and connecting the keyboard, but the monitor isn't detecting it anymore. the computer was still trying to put windows on the monitor, though, so it was a bit weird.
My setup is that I have a macbook pro connected to a doc that runs one external monitor & also connects my custom keyboard. I didn't think my setup was too demanding, but I was proven wrong. Still, for ~$20, it lasted a little over a year.

Does the job well
I have a monitor that doesn't work very well with a standard 6-foot USB-C cable, specifically I sometimes have to disconnect and reconnect it after the laptop wakes up from sleep. This shorter cable improves the situation dramatically.
