What type of rack mounting brackets would I need to put this into a rack?
Daniel Z

BEST ANSWER: The unit comes with 2 rack mounting ear and small screws to attach the ears to the unit. Rack mounting screws are not included. Size of the unit on rack is 1U. Unit has 4 footing that are detached, inside the accessory box. You can always use a 1U or 2U rack shelf if you don't want to mount it with the ears.

Good day; how will be the vizualization in the hdtv if I select 2 or more inputs in 1 output ?? sample: inputs 1 and 3 in output 3...
A shopper
on May 9, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Well if I'm readying your question correctly you are asking if multiple inputs can be sent to a single output. The matrix will not do that. Each output can only received one input at a time. Multiple outputs can be using one input at a time, in those cases I have experienced no drop in quality. I do want to note that I have experienced and am still experiencing issues with this product. The outputs sporadically come in and out. You can be watching an input on an output and suddenly the output does not recognize any inputs, I have not found a way to fix it immediately, it randomly decides when it is going to work again.

This is a video wall right? Like i can do a 2x2 showing the same video or individualize streams on different displays?
A shopper
on Feb 15, 2021
BEST ANSWER: As far as I know, this device cannot take a single image and split it up into 4 parts (i.e. top-left, top-right, bottom-left, bottom-right) like in a 2x2 video wall. It CAN take a single image and display that same image on multiple screens simultaneously. It can also stream up to 8 individual input sources to any of the 8 outputs simultaneously. I've had mine for about a month now and I love it!

This is a matrix source to display switching device. You would use this in conjunction with a Video Wall Processor.
e.g., This would allow you to send video from input 1 to to the TV at output 6, or input 7 to output 2, input 4 to output 8, etc.. it doesn't do any video wall processing.

Will this Matrix enable each TV to have a wired Ethernet connection when the router is plugged into the Ethernet port on the Matrix or do I have to run a separate cable and network switcher?
New User U
on Mar 19, 2021
BEST ANSWER: As far as I know, the ethernet port on the Matrix is only there to provide connectivity for the web-based GUI. The web GUI is one of the main reasons I bought this device. It allows you to switch input/output configurations, save/recall presets, and change EDID settings from any web browser on any device connected to your local network. If you want want wired ethernet to your TVs, then yes, you will need to run separate ethernet cable to a network switch. However, the whole point of the matrix is simplify the connection/distribution of multiple inputs to multiple displays. As long as your source devices (Firestick, cable box, computers, etc.) are wired with ethernet, then running ethernet to the TVs themselves would be an unnecessary redundancy.

Ian M

BEST ANSWER: The audio signal from this device is either Via HDMI or your de imbedded audio outputs. If you are using an Atmos processor, most common connection would be via HDMI. That should pass no issues. You can use the stereo signal for the second TV either via HDMI or analog, S/PDIF if using an amplifier.

The matrix will pass what ever is input and the TV or surround sound processor will process what ever it will need..
If the audio/video being passed has Atmos then it will be processed by the AVR, if a TV only needs stereo then the TV will process that audio.

BEST ANSWER: From Wikipedia:
Hybrid log–gamma (HLG) is a backwards-compatible high dynamic range (HDR) standard that was jointly developed by the BBC and NHK. ... HLG is supported by HDMI 2.0b, HEVC, VP9, and H. 264/MPEG-4 AVC, and is used by video services such as BBC iPlayer, DirecTV, Freeview Play, and YouTube.
My understanding is, if the piece of equipment is HDMI 2.0 then it should be compatible.

What would happen if I, say, connect a 4K source (input) and send it to two of the outputs, one connected to a 4K TV and the other to a 1080P tv? Will properly handle it and send the "common denominator" (i.e. 1080p)?
Augustine S
on Dec 22, 2017
BEST ANSWER: By default, the switch will send the least common denominator (1080p) to your input device, which is good. After that, it's up to the input device to decide what to do. Unfortunately, very few devices handle this situation correctly, especially if the resolution changes after the device has been powered on (e.g. because you turned off one of the outputs.) In practice, it's probably not going to work.

Does this matrix handle CEC messages? Could I read the messages from one input on other inputs or any outputs?

Does this support 1920x1200 (16:10 format)? We have projectors that naively run 1920x1200.

Using at a Cigar Bar
It works great; both the box itself and the web interface. 'Easy to configure... I am not a professional AV guy. Don't believe the negative reviews about startup and switch times. The time to switch via the box is maybe three seconds and it's nearly instantaneous using the WebGUI. I did not use the remote a lot, but it was fast switching too. And the boot up time is maybe 30 seconds if that. It worked well over a 80 foot run to a TV using an Active HDMI cable too.
Note, the only way to turn it off is with the remote control.

Almost good
The button interface on this matrix is actually quite good. It was easy to switch multiple inputs quickly. It worked for quite a while, and I was pleased with this matrix compared to the other two I bought. However, the SPIF ports just stopped working after a while. The ports only work in stereo, anyway. The web interface is weird, and Chrome has a bunch of trouble opening it. I had to use Firefox to manage it. And, of course, as everyone mentioned, switching is quite slow. I would not recommend this product for reliability reasons, but it was my best matrix for a while.

S.L.O.W - Unusable in our setup
Very Slow switching - unusable, need to return, Tried to use with a Control4 system and it takes over a minute to switch to proper inputs & catch up with the system.
Please contact us regarding returning this product. It's not being used due to the lag time in switching.
Thank you kindly

Works great , easy to control with Savant . Took no time to write a Savant profile for it because the included manual had all the Serial control info and commands

Lackluster
Monoprice has usually been the affordable option with completely adequate equipment, however, this product has had problems with EID options, HDMI/CAT6 converters, standby usage, and difficulty finding firmware update as well. Also, no power off option. Will still continue to recommend Monoprice products, but would suggest spending a little more on an 8+ output HDMI matrix.

I have 6 types of video inputs with 4 tv outputs and a surround sound output the EDID feature makes everything connect perfectly. I can watch 4 programs on 4 different tv's and pick the surround sound to any program that I want. Or all outputs can be on any device. Works great.
