The hub is cloning the 4 monitors, it is not extending?

BEST ANSWER: It works as if it were 4 indipendant display port ports. You can set them in windows to be mirrored or extended or whatever you want them to be. They can also be different resolutions and orientations. Pay attention to bandwidth limits though. This is not what you want to do if you have 1440 or 4k displays. But at 1080 this works great for 4 ports.

This hub allows you to extend the desktop to all 4 monitors. I think that you can clone the monitors (or some portion of the monitors), but I use it to run 4 extended monitors, and it works perfectly. Hope this helps.

That's what I wanted it to do, but it is NOT doing it. It is ONLY cloning. NOT extending. I am running Windows 10 Pro on a Dell OptiPlex 990 Using the Built In Intel HD Graphic card that has a VGA and a DP, 1 Monitor connected to the VGA and the HUB connected to the DP, and 4 monitors connected to the HUB, but again it is NOT extending, ONLY Cloning.
Cloning 4 monitors one machine.
But
You have to buy the dongles to go from hdmi to the other one that looks like a hdmi

What do you mean?
This is my setup:
1: VGA Connected to 1 monitor.
1: DP Now connected to the Monoprice MS Device that supposedly would allow up to 4 Minotaurs.
When I plug in 4 more monitors to that HUB, all 4 monitors are cloned as 1 monitor.
No matter what setting I use, all 4 monitors act as one.

I read from a different vendor that Mac OS X does not support Extended Desktop using MST technology, it will only mirror the displays. Can someone confirm that I can use extended desktop from Mac OS X to two monitors with this device?

BEST ANSWER: Thank you for your question.
Unless you are using a Mac that would support MST this would not get you extended displays.
At most you would get duplicates.

BEST ANSWER: Thank you for your question.
Unfortunately we would not be certain if it would be able to do so.
You would want to contact Lenovo directly and ask them if that pad would have the proper ports and would support MST technology.

BEST ANSWER: Thank you for your question.
We cannot guarantee that this would with an adapter.
These are designed to go straight from your computer to your displays with nothing between them.

Can I run this off a HDMI switch from a video card on pc?
A shopper
on May 13, 2020
BEST ANSWER: No, the input must be displayport. If you use an HDMI to displayport converter then all four outputs of this hub will likely be mirrored. If that is what you want there are probably cheaper options to mirror HDMI 4 ways.

Keeps waking up the monitors when the computer is off
Pros:
It works when the computer is on.
Monoprice service is very good.
Cons:
When the computer is off / hibernating / sleeping or even when the unit is not connected to the computer, it keeps waking up on and off some of the monitors every few seconds.
I'm afraid it will damage the monitors during time.
The not perfect solution I found is to disconnect the unit from the electricity every time I put the computer to sleep.

A little bummed.
The adapter doesnt work with the intended PC. Not a fault of the adapter, but rather mine for not doing enough research before buying.

Works great - but make sure your computer can do 4 monitors
I got this hoping to run 4 monitors. Problem is, my machine will only allow 3 anyway regardless of how many you connect. But this works great!
