will the door bell ring in the house?
A shopper
on Jul 10, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Yes it will ring in house, it comes with a small piece you have to install in your original door bell chime box, literally 2 wires, piece has adhesive on it to stick inside box. Instructions are good & its very easy to install. I do have a few second delay from when button is pressed til chime goes off inside. Not a big deal in my opinion, i have the motion sensor set so the ring app chimes bout the same time visitors get to the door, small delay there too but again no big deal for me.

This door bell hooks up to an existing 24v AC door bell. If that is what you have this will work. If you don't have that then you need to get the other version that is battery powered and a plug in wireless bell.

Yes, if it replaces an existing doorbell. If there is no doorbell, you can purchase the “Chime” by Ring that plugs into any outlet in the house and it rings whenever someone presses your Ring doorbell.

Yes.
You need to hard-wire the Ring Video Doorbell Pro to the doorbell circuit (just like a normal doorbell) both to power the camera and so that the doorbell will ring inside your house.

BEST ANSWER: Yes, it was preowned. The package appeared new with all inserts. Upon install, I was told the 30 day free trial had been used. a few weeks after install when having problems, I was told a replacement was needed, however, the warantee period expired in Jan 2021. This was a 1 year warantee and the unit was purchased in Dec of 2020. The Ring Customer Service explained that this unit was install in January of 2020. Needless to say, this unit was definitely preowned and MonoPrice is not standing behind the purchase. They have claimed this was shipped via a third party. This will be reported to the better business bureau as false advertising.

Also, when it tried to perform the software update it bricked and after some Ring support I received a brand new replacement with the current software and wedges.

Is the lens adjustable?
A shopper
on Jul 16, 2019
BEST ANSWER: No. It is a very wide angle lens, so it captures most of what you could see from the doorbell. If you want to tip the whole doorbell and it's viewing angle down (at the top of some stairs) or left or right (like it's against a wall), it comes with wedges you can put behind it to angle it in a direction.

BEST ANSWER: You DO NOT have to subscribe to any storage service. But if you want your video stored for some period of time before it is deleted, you have 2 choices:
1) Use YOUR OWN hard disk at home to store video as long as you want to store it... as long as you have a large enough hard disk (possible with an expandable hard disk subsystem. ust add another hard disk when you need more space. Doing this keeps your video in your own control at all times.. You can save it or delete it as you see fit. The doorbell does not record unless there is motion detected, so most of the time, there's nothing being stored unless there is a lot of foot or vehicle traffic and you aren't set back a bit from the sidewalk or street. You can get 2 or 3 TB (terabytes) hard disks with USB or Ethernet connections for less than $100, with more disks needed as you need more storage space. For less than $200 you can get a hard disk enclosure that holds 2 hard disks, possibly even 4 hard disks. You need some intermediate level computer skills to make this work, but it's certainly easy enough for anyone who is more than a casual computer user.
2) Pay ring their monthly service fee or lifetime service fee to hold your recordings for a specific amount of time.
3) Use the "free" Ring service that deletes your videos after some amount of time (probably 24 hours).
Your best option depends on how much security you want and whether you are OK with Ring storing video from your home and what your computer skills level is.

Yes. $3 per month for camera. You don’t have to pay a subscription to use it, only for web recording and associated web features. You can purchase an unlimited ring subscription for $100 annually and cover unlimited devices as well. It’s a great deal if you use a Ring Alarm, and includes 24/7 professional monitoring.

Yes, $3.00 per month per device or $10.00 for unlimited devices if you want access to recorded video. The video is recorded on the Ring servers and not the devices. No cost if you just want to view the video in real time.

Yes they do but only if you want your videos to be kept for up to 90 days. Otherwise, it will still record them but after a day they are wiped. Love our Ring!

Ring video doorbell comes with rechargeable battery. The existing wiring is intended to charge the battery and to use your existing chime. If you don't have existing wiring/chime you would need an external battery charger to charge the Ring battery and a wireless chime inside your house plugged into a wall outlet. Both are available as Ring accessories. Hope this answers your question.

You can purchase the regular Ring Doorbell rather than the Doorbell Pro. The Pro only works with existing or installed wiring where the normal Ring Doorbell work with either a battery or wiring.

I want to mount this on a gate that is about 125 ft from house. Will it work?
A shopper
on Feb 1, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Yes it will work 'IF' there are not too many walls or trees or plants between the doorbell and your wifi router. Remember you need power (18 volt DC) at the doorbell. And your router needs to be able to send and receive wifi at that distance. I would suggest you connect your phone or a laptop computer to you wireless network and take it to the location you want to install your doorbell to see if you can stay connected at that location. Good luck!

If you can get a strong network signal at the gate it would work. That seems a bit far if your routers are in the house. The Pro also assumes that you are tying it in to the house doorbell wiring/power. I believe your house doorbell wiring would need to extend to the gate as well. Alternatively if you had Ethernet run from the house to the gate you can get better performance out of the Elite.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED PRODUCT
I have installed many of these and they have all been awesome but this latest one is only 30' from a new router with wifi with speeds of 80meg and it the ring cannot find the wifi. Ring tech support (which is great) tried for about 30 min and finally said "sorry but I just found out we have issues on the ring side" so she said she would email the owner when ready. That unusual but its been 6 days now and no response.
