Will this work with an extension cable from USB C to USB C? Will it work with an adapter to plug into a USB 3.0 port?

BEST ANSWER: I'm not always certain of the terminology and I don't want to mislead you. However, I use this device to load files directly onto my Macbook Pro. I think that is a USB port but, of course, Apple has a different name for it.

Haven't tried the first but it seems like it would work. Why would you be plugging it into a USB 3.0 port? It's to store and transfer files to and from an SD card. Enter

I can't comment on the use of an extension cable, but it works just fine with a USB-C to USB Type-A (9-pin for USB 3) adapter plug.

I bought two of them. They work well on my new USB-C Chromebook.With no loading of software, or fuss. There is a nice little blue light indicator that comes on when connected to a USB-C device.

How does this work? I have it plugged into my iPad Air 4th gen with a micro sd card. The Device blinks blue lights but nothing else happens.

I don't think a iPad has enough power to use this item. I use it. on a laptop.

Love this card reader!
I had purchased a hub with all the slots in it, but this is so easy to use and I keep it close by new MacBook, as they no longer have a card reader built in. (which is stupid.....)

Works great, but will block the second USB-C port on your MacBook Pro
I use this now that I have a MacBook Pro with USB-C ports and no card slot. Works just fine. It might be a little slower than having a built in card slot, but if it is, the difference isn't noticeable.
It's wide enough to block the second USB-C port on your MacBook Pro. Also, it feels a bit vulnerable having the relatively large surface area hanging off of a small port, so a little caution is required.
